Words you've made (and actually use)
« on: January 09, 2006, 11:27:17 pm »
About 8 years ago I made up the word \"enduriating\".. and still use it often.  Sometimes people don\'t even act like they don\'t even know what I\'m saying.  Basically, my meaning is \"some that grates on ones nerves\".   Example usage: \"Dragging your fingernails across the chalk board is very enduriating\".

Anybody else got any made-up words?

Drey will own this thread. I can feel it. I can feel it in my bones.
Judge: Are you trying to show contempt for this court, Mr Smith?
Smith: No, My Lord. I am attempting to conceal it.

I *am* currently a \"graduated unemployed\" -- in german: \"Diplom-Arbeitsloser\".

And - not made by me, but found in a movie with Manfred Krug playing a lawyer or similar: \"I may not call him an a$$hole, but he can\'t be mad if I call him MRTLBRMFT.\"

Doso - Eg. Hey pass that doso over here, no not that doso...yeah that one.

And its not Doooo-sow. Do it fast.

The fun is trying to figure out what the hell the other person wants.

Bozo - A well known word (Bozo the clown) but we in our house call each other Bozos, instead of our real names  :D

Bushi - Cute/adorable- We use that for our little sister (who\'s 9) and still call her that. Another variation is Bebushcababy  :P

Funny: It\'s like japanese for \"please\" / \"here you are\".

well I thought I invented the word wistful as a childish substitute for wishful.  Later on I found out wistful was a real word too..

Esciva... not my word but a friends.  A word meaning escape.  We use it because of the confusion factor.

Scoach - a friends word as well - used for the gross factor.  Actually means to slide or \"scootch\".  But we say things like \"Don\'t make me scoach all over you!\"

Coolistic

umm yea - my word... I use it.... and its lame.

Ha, I hope they will nominate it for the \"Unwort des Jahres\" (could be translated as \"absurd word of the year\" ), a \"award\" which is given to words that are \"objectively inappropriate\". (It\'s somehow a counter-action to the well-known \"word of the year\".)

sounds spanish... french or spanish endings mixed with english worlds ususally make good words.

another fun thing to do with speaking is to \'posh up\' your sentances. say like if at school they are sercing potato wedges along with whatever meal you are serving, but because you are wierd you want to put some in your burger you could ask \"would it be possible to aquire some of those potato wedges out of context\" much more intersting than \"can i \'ave some of the wedges\"

note the words aquire and context.
