error loading plugin
« on: January 12, 2006, 09:08:40 am »
I had a problem similar to another thread that I saw, there were pitch black areas everywhere.  Following what the thread said I ran PSClientCMD.jar and typed the fullbright command.  The terminal then gave me the message: Error loading plugin \'crystalspace.mesh.loader.factory.particles\'!
any sugestions would be much appriciated.

I still use the old way to relight.

open Terminal type cd [space] drop planeshift folder in push return then type :

 ./psclient.app/Contents/MacOS/psclient -relight

this will load game when it has loaded depending on area you are relighting, could be long time, quit to save it and quit terminal then start up game as normal.

If you update you will need to do it again.

works well still for me. Hope this helps.

I suggest updating and then trying either -relight or -fullbright again. Make sure to include the \"-\" in the command.

After repeating the process, the game played with no change.  Also at the end of teh relight in the terminal i got a message saying

Input Buffer Full! Dropping pocket of type MSGTYPE_DEAD_RECKONING!

After starting the game i got a terminal message of

Got DR message for unknown entity 164.

The level of my patience is shortly becoming smaller than my growing level of annoyance.

I suggest reinstalling using just the Java installer. Trash Planeshift and do not download the DMG. Just download the zipped Java installer and use that. Download from mirror 2. Then try again. If this doesn\'t work, I\'ll call in dfryer.

After deleting the previous version of PS that I had, downloading the zip file and the updater it didn\'t open.
I then followed the directions in the guide to tamper with Java in the terminal and the updater failed to open again.
I am running OS 10.3.9 on my computer.

Wait wait wait... those instructions specifically state, \"If you\'re running 10.4.x and Updater.jar doesn\'t work for you...\" You are running 10.3.x. Following those instructions is actually detrimental and probably screwed up your Java distribution.

Do the following to fix it:
Open /Applications/Utilities/Terminal(.app). Type \"cd /System/Library/Frameworks/JavaVM.framework/Versions/\" and hit return. Then type \"sudo ln -sfh 1.4.2 CurrentJDK\" and hit return. You may be asked for your password; enter it and hit return.

Similar to the steps in the Guide, but slightly different. Fix it as specified above and then use the old version of the updater, 10.2.x-10.3.x, from the Guide.
