client dies
« on: December 11, 2002, 12:48:30 am »
When I run the client file, it comes up with splash screen and then changes to a screen with 3 options.  When I click on the creat gem the program disappears/dies.  No errors pop up or anything.. just dies.  Any ideas.

I am running AMD XP1600+
       Mandrake 9.0
        NVidia GForce MX420 64megs ram
      client 1.004

TIA

Thanks for the input.  I had already tried that.  I also tried full screen, software rendering, and running in a different windows manager.  Always a segmentation fault in psclient-exec.  However the fault number changes depending on the options I set in the cfg file.  Non-the-less, guess I\'ll have to wait till the first release to try it out unless anyone else has any ideas.

the game creates a program folder in your start menu. When you go to this folder you see two planeshift executables. One that says safe mode and one that says opengl mode.

This would be the case if I were indeed running M$ Windows but I am not.  I am running Linux. In order to run in safemode I am using the command line option --video=software.  This produced no change.

check if you have the sound rendering plugin activated. If it is, turn it OFF.
I had the same problem, but the plugin caused the client to crash at opening the world.

Now I have an other problem, when recieving the messages on the bottom of the screen the client crashes :-(
