Brillian music in the intro.
« on: January 14, 2006, 09:12:23 am »
I am just now getting this working, waiting for my password email to come. It has been nearly a year since I last tried to play with an adsl modem that wasn\'t working correctly.

I think this introduction music is brilliant. Whover has done this is quite an artist. I might try to find the ogg file for this in the art folder and put it on my player. (which plays ogg!)

Planeshift has a lot of good music, it\'s cool.  The music in ojaveda road is my favourite, followed by the character creation theme, near the magic house, and akkaio.  When I was new, the music was one of my motivations for exploring new areas.

The music is good for the first few months you hear it, but it nags on after that. This happens in most MMO\'s seeing as music isn\'t really the main focus, but it\'s a nice addition. Honestly I\'d like to hear more orchestrated music. Something with violins, cellos and such. Similar to the music in Oja road, but perhaps with a better melody. Something fast and inventive, yet long enough to stay unrepetitive.

It\'s all good enough for right now, but I do hope there is a serious search for better music somewhere along the line of developement. It\'s a crucial point when it comes to immersion.

Which is interesting because I don\'t hear music when I walk out to my car...

It helps because while it\'s not natural, it gives you something soothing and relaxing to listen to while you perform an activity. Good music can mean all the difference when you\'re walking for 10 minutes straight to some town in the middle of no where.

I was just making a bad joke because you used the word \"immersion\".  There\'s obviously a use for it.

It was mostly for all the peanuts who didn\'t understand. Don\'t worry, I don\'t think you\'re a peanut Kiern. :)

That\'s rather ethnocentric....

**turns down volume on ipod while walking out to car**
huh? what? did someone say something?  Whadda mean life doesn\'t come with a soundtrack???

_______

I miss hearing the music. Had to turn it off \'cause my game kept crashing.. and crashing.. ugh. But from what I heard they did a really nice job on the music. I like it better than most other rpg\'s i\'ve played. Will have to hope i get to hear the ojaveda road music sometime. Didn\'t know it was that different.  Music is important for setting the mood of a place, and for those who think its boring or whatever, you can always shut it off.  :)

Get a player that can play Ogg Vorbis files. Then go to the art/music directory (should be C:\\Program Files\\PlaneShift Crystal Blue\\art\\music on Windows) and listen to the wonderful music ;)
