If armor was already done, you\'d already have it :) It\'s like that for everything. And wondering about when something will be done in PS is very much a futile task, due to it all being a hobby project.

So! Grab your invisible helmets for now, and onwards!

hmmm I don\'t really care when we can see it but would like it to actually stop damage to the point that duels are fun again becuase it requires skill instead of pure training in speed.

Balancing is needed, bigtime.  No way around that.

This is the #1 request, bar none.  And, I just want you to know that saying \"soon\" is not just lip-service.  Progress has been made, and it is in the works.  You\'ll just have to be patient and wait.

If someone wants to contribute, they should apply to the team :> Generally, anything already posted in the public forms isn\'t going to be used. If most of the things that got in-game were things we\'ve all already seen before, it would be rather dull, nothing new, nothing exciting. The very reason the development processes are hidden is to keep this \"wow-factor\" going, make people wait anxiously and then be blown away by some cool thing that suddenly appears in the game :)

What you say is not true.

The reason we cannot have in the game, anything that has been posted, is very clearly not to kindly save us from being bored.

To have anything new appear in the game, seen before or not, would wow me a whole lot more than getting nothing.

Use what is freely offered, and give us things that are surprises, too.

It is not like the Devs have so much material that they can really afford to waste any.

Actually it is true. The other reason is because a lot of things posted don\'t meet Talad\'s high quality standard. He doesn\'t want the game to use \'just anything\' because it\'s there. If people really want to contribute, then they should apply as a contributer if good enough.

A better way to say what Karyuu did, is that letting things just trickle out isn\'t very good.  It makes updating more complicated, and it\'s just all around better to release things in packages.  And yeah, it looks spiffier too.  ;)

The 2 primary reasons for not just adding fan art at will:
  • As Xordan said, we want high quality.  We don\'t want side projects, we want actual contributions.  People should join the team and help out.  Artists are more than welcome.
  • Copyrights and potential idiots.  We don\'t ever want the possibility of some idiot giving us something then later wanting to take it back and screw us over.  Copyrights are massively abused, and the only way to protect ourselves is to hold them collectively, as an organization.  Art belongs to PS so it can stay with PS.
Edited to add:
Armor is being worked on.  Hell, I was the one who got the stupid texture changeout working for it a bit back.  Please don\'t whine over this anymore.  Art moves at a slow pace at this point in the game\'s development.  Deal with it.

I think that balancing issues are a myth.  The people who complain the most are just upset because they don\'t have maxed characters.  It\'s not an RP-related thing at all, and it\'s not in the interests of Planeshift.

Yes, there are balancing issues.  But I think aesthetics and new maps are two issues of equal importance.  And of course quests!  And knowing what to do when you first enter the game!

No, there are serious balancing issues, such as Magic/Hand-to-hand. You buy a glyph for a thousand tria, which by this point you have likely gained from monster slaying, and it just doesn\'t do as much damage as the weapons.

zanzibar: I\'ve said this a million times, I\'ll say it again: if people can max even a single stat in two weeks, something is wrong. If they can max all of their stats in two weeks, there is a serious problem. It should take months to max even a few stats, years to max them all. Just like in reality, if you want to be a jack of all trades and do it well, it\'ll take a long time to learn the necessary skills.
