Yet another issue with a Quest

It seems I have run into an issue with the Ring of Familiar quest.  At the point in the quest when I am attempting to give the 10 diamonds to Levrus to complete the quest, it seems I am unable to do so.  

When I attempt to give him the  diamonds it gives me these messages:

popup messages in the middle of the screen
\"Trade complete\" (Green)
\"Levrus Dahrenn does not need that.\" (Red)

messages in the chat window
\"Levrus Dahrenn tells you: Wow, you found them! (etc, etc) The ring is ready. It\'s yours.\"
\">Fist does not fit in this slot.\"
\"Levrus Dahrenn tells you: Wow, you found them! (etc, etc) The ring is ready. It\'s yours.\"
\">Fist does not fit in this slot.\"


When I check my inventory after these messages, it seems my 10 diamonds are still there, and I have not recieved the ring.  Upon further checking I find it does properly detect that 10 have been offered, because when I do a number other than 10 it does the same popup messages, however the chat window messages do not appear.  This has happened every time I have tried to do this.  I have had other people confirm that it happens to them as well.

I did search high and low for another post regarding this topic, but I didnt find it here or even in the bugtracker. Hope that I am not posting on something that has already been covered.

Instead of posting that in the forums {at all | only}, you should better create a bug report (after checking that it does not yet exist already):

Yes I agree however, I am not :

- qualified to know where this bug is/should be (server, client, etc..)
- usually a petition is enough for us repporters as people with *much* more experience than us monitor this,
- as you know petitions are not working atm http://planeshift3d.com/bugtracker/bug.php?op=show&bugid=1420&pos=0

Thus the only result is first, am I alone with this problem ?

On a second time I agree that it *should* be our duty to check/upadte bugtracker but litlle experience on this is a very strong limiting factor for efficient reports.

don\'t know if this is already know, so i\'ll drop it here instead of the bugtracker:

\"Thorian\'s Shield\" has a massive bug.
When i gave Harmquist the shield and told him to repair it he said that it would cost 30 Trias. So far, so nice.
Then i somehow lost Harmquist as my target und had to retarget him. I tried to give him the requested Trias, but Harmquist \"doent need that\".
Now he doesn\'t react on \"Repair the shield.\" anymore and just kept it. No way complete the quest.

Maybe this is somehow related to the inventorybug?

This quest is indeed a bit \"particular\" but you still haven\'t reached that point.
Remember what the dwarf told you, you don\' really want to pay Harnquist, do you? You\'ve to \"convince\" him (read menace) you\'d like to check your logs, avaiable on planeshift directory, under log folder in order to refresh your memory and get the hint of the kind of sentence you\'ve to use.

Okay, thanks for the hints so far.
There are no logs in my PS-dir (i\'m on linux - maybe because of that) but i noted that Torian said i should tell Harmquist something like \"Th* Sp*** wi** *no* i*\" (stars to avoid spoiling).

Me and Zanzibar were discussing this at some point, trying to figure out why the phrase wasn\'t working. If I remember correctly, you had to have typed it exactly as you saw it, and that meant... yep, quotations/apostraphes included ;)

If you are right this is another task i cant finish.
I cant find a chatlog or something like this to find out what *exactly* Thorian said, so Harmquist the thief will keep his shield. Mah!

Ooops. I found a log and greped it for the correct sentence. Doesn\'t work neither with quotes.

I can confirm that the sentence isn\'t supposed to be said the exact way it\'s told, and that you may have to go behind Thorian\'s back a little for this.. If you ask me, this is the most responsive quest I\'ve found, being that it actually requires you to think of the NPC\'s as human.

So just keep trying, and if you think you may have lost the shield for good, just open up your quest window, and cancel the quest to start over. Nifty little feature, that..

Nothing to get back to ;) It\'s a bug, it will hopefully be submitted to the bugtracker, devs will be/are notified, and they\'ll apply fixes.

I am having the exact same results for the ring quest - he seems to take the crystals, tells me twice the he is casting the spell and the ring is now mine, but when i look in my inventory, I see my crystals and no ring.

And it does also say in the red text that he does not need that item.

I hope someone has posted it to the bug tracker. ... if so please let us know .
