Name Changed by Game?
« on: January 19, 2006, 11:30:42 pm »
I recentally dled and installed PS and and have been enjoying it. My boyfriend, who also enjoys playing much of the same games as I, started a character as well, but has become quite aggitated due to the game changing his screen name in game.

When he made the character, he named his elf-creature LrdMidknight, and it registered a valid character name at first, but during later game play he noticed the game had changed his name to Cangon. Needless to say, he\'s upset about this and has asked many people in game what could be the cause of this, but it was unanswered.

What causes this to happen and how can this be resolved without deletion of character?

Please let me know.

Name changed by Game.... Master.

Naming policy

Likely due to the title rule, lrd = lord.
<Rux> i wish i could say that narrows it down, but the internet is one freaky place

There are rather strict naming rules enforced in-game, and his character\'s name did not comply. It\'s always important to read as much about a game as you can first, forums included - so that these misunderstandings do not happen :)

*edited to add*

Of course he can get his character renamed to another name of his choice, this time making sure that it is an actual name. Contact a Game Master in-game for the change. Do a \'/who game\' and send a tell to anyone available.

Judge: Are you trying to show contempt for this court, Mr Smith?
Smith: No, My Lord. I am attempting to conceal it.

Just because you clicked the button, and it let you in, doesn\'t mean the name was valid.  Our naming rules are very simple really, it just has to actually be a name.  I don\'t think that\'s too much to ask.
