I have a theory that might explain this. In real life, people have very little choice. You either be good or you get jailed or killed. whichever comes first. Since games are not real, people will choose a wicked way of living in-game. The reason for this is they crave something new and exciting. They are bored with their \"peaceful\" real life lives, so they live a different life in a game. And when you expirience something new, it is exciting. The human mind is naturally attracted to new and exciting things.

Kiern, gions guild, the dwarven army, disbanded, and arent really there anymore, might go back when the game is actually there, but right now it doesnt exist. As for abyss knights, they arent exactly active, or even around at all anymore...

At the moment I think I am bound to be in a neutral position, I support all guilds that join the fray (after all why should I care where the money that comes into my tavern comes from). Sounds like a cop out, but I do feel the need for balance at the moment and I will support balance and Mirth\'s (at the moment) single handed battle for good.

Maybe one day we can form a guild that isn\'t good nor evil but fights for what is right (and likes a drink at the local tavern ;)).

This whole business does intrigue me as to how a trading/cafting/suppliing guild will work.

I have never played UO or EQ etc. and haven\'t experienced how this stuff has been handled so far. If I wanted to start a such a guild and live that way, what are the thoughts about how such a guild would fit in with the PS world? What would be the point of adopting this life?

I played EQ for a while(untill I got pissed at Sony/Verant, and didn\'t feel like paying monthly) and there were no crafting/trading guilds, the whole point of many guilds was to create stable hunting groups to fight stronger monsters where better organization was needed. Plus most of the people were focused on hunting and not trading or crafting.

But them this is why PS would be different, trading guilds would definitly be interesting.

Anyhow, I think whether the guild is evil, good, or neutral, we\'ll all be equal at the pub. There will be no shortage of customers :)

I don\'t think there will be guilds like that, most will go the good/neutral/evil/party guilds like in any other game (sadly)

I disagree, PS will try to cater for the guilds that want to form to support the gaming environment (please correct me here). I\'m not clear on how this can be implemented, but I believe guilds should also be about the supply of goods and services to the guilds at war.

Wow this post really took off.  I very much hope that the guild system in PS will not work like it does in EQ, sure organizing your guild to take out a god or some other large beast is fun.  But I also thing it would just get old after a while.

My personally question is what about the guild that just wants to meditate in their temple until they achieve inner enlightenment and gain access to the power of the crystal.

And then possible destroy, hide, or otherwise keep anyone from every being able to use the power of the crystal whether it be in good or evil intentions.  (I\'m not quite sure about this haven\'t thought that far ahead in my belief system as of yet)

Well, I mean, the only way I see that working is if they review each guild which wants to become official, so they know what each wants or is planning on doing and if they will be able to have them...otherwise you might create a useless guild

Well then my guild will most likely look like a bunch of ho-bo\'s sitting in a temple in the middle of nowhere. :P

WOw! don\'t check the forums for 3 days and mirth\'s got a whopping great post with its title on it ;)

I think that it would be hard to form a guild which didn\'t take a side, like a traiding /mining guild, cause it would get kinda repetative for those members to just do the same thing over and over, there whould have to ultimately be some fighting or someting for them; afterall arnt most games based upon geting stronger in combat... and if the members are all weak(at fighting) how will they defend themselves if a caotic evil guy comes and decides he wants to kill all these friendly helpful traiders?

Anyhoo, i might just be compleatly on the wrong wavelength, but maybe, jus maybe... :D
