i personally prefer Avast! (the ! isnt me shouting, its part of the name)

only because no one bothers to write viruses to target mac security bugs, why bother when they make up less than 8% (this figure seems to range from 5 - 12% depending on who you talk to, i chose something in between the two to avoid arguments) of the OS market?

and Zanzibar, you should be safe uninstaling Norton as long as you have something running in its place

I believe he was being sarcastic as in why should he uninstall norton when all that was offered to replace it was avast or avg.

I\'m not going to get into an argument over whats better. better is an opinion anyway.  I\'m happy with AVG, and I take it he is happy with norton.

I\'m not sure if this thread was meant to be about antivirus tools, but to add my 2ct:

H+BEDV AntiVir Personal Edition - free for personal use, and in german.

So probably not very common outside D-A-CH. But has a few advantages -e.g. searching as well for things that are not really viruses, but still may annoy or distract you from working.
