That developer map shows all people in all departments since all time.  At any given moment there are about 8-10 active programmers.

oh...like that... just a question for you i translated some files for you into dutch a while ago and sent them back to you so you could make a dutch patch. What the hell happened to that, it\'s like 5 months ago or something.

Did you send to me directly?  Or to some other team member?   I don\'t recall off hand so I am sorry if you did send to me and it wasn\'t included.

Thanks guys.  I appreciate the info.  Sorry if I accidentally started a bit of a programmer/engineer flamewar.  I have been studying up on the different aspects that you guys mentioned in these posts and I am gonna try to take some 3d Modeling courses and Programming.  I even got the CVS using the instructions on the main site and tried to compile myself.  It only took 10 minutes to pick up the smoking ruins of my computer. I think I may need some practice in that area.

Who knows?  I might actually absorb some of the information and make it useful enough to contribute.  If not, at least I\'ll have pretty 3d pictures to put on my desktop.

Take care, all

it's not really a flame, it's just that we don't have the same priority :
the creators of planeshift are artists
i'm just a programmer and a computer engeneer.

an our of work is an hour of work. But an hour of work on the graphical engine does not produce the same result than an hour of work on the game engine, or on the network engine.
(but by the way planeshift is an extreem, and the other extreeme would be these e-mail roleplaying games, or the text-mode "roleplaying" games)

To the creator of planeshif, a thing quite amazing is a detailled model made in 3DSMax with an overwhelming number of thin polugons, well animed and so on ...
To me, something that is quite amazing would rather be a (less beatifull) 64kB assembly program that would generate a "3D video" of 15 minutes or a real-time time ray-tracing demo ...

it's just like the difference between a car tuned with neon and everything you can do to tune a car and a formula 1 : there is not one more amazing than the other : it's just a question of point of view ...
(and we both agree that planeshift is great, we just disagree on what sould be done first)
