Bards and their tales
« on: January 31, 2006, 03:00:59 pm »
Hi all! I?m quite new to this forum but I have been playing PS a little while. I really like PS. I was thinking that it would be great to have something regarding bards implanted in PS; maybe a place where you could go and listen to Bard?s tales. Maybe a bard tavern or a gathering place. In that place you could as well enjoy beautiful music played by bards on their harps. That place could be somewhere outside the cities, a special place, you have to earn a key or something in order to enter the bard place. In this place, you could listen to stories concerning the world of PS.
I don?t know, I think this should improve the atmosphere and the feeling of PS a lot. What do you think?

We had, that I remember, two events of that kind.
Both of them happened at the tavern (Kada El\'s tavern, in Hydlaa city) and were mainly an initiative of a character named Saba Acidheart.

http://www.planeshift3d.com/wbboard/thread.php?threadid=17705&boardid=13

That I remember there wasn\'t a thread collecting all the stories that were told there, I seem to recall that Ganinos told about those skerpts of that book he has about a dwarf warrior (blurry memory there...) I recall too Verrliit saying a poem, and also Jjaiirr telling her \"as of yet untitled\" story, but a lot more polished.

JJairr\'s story can be found here:

And Saba told us this one:

Unfortunately seems that Saba will leave the game for some extended period of time, but perhaps another person finds the courage to try to make events such as that one pop again.
Are there any MoonSeekers left?

This is an excellent idea Ramirez.  :)  The wonderful thing about Planeshift is (as Nilrem pointed out) that it has been done and can be done now.  You can make your idea a reality now and not have to wait.  You can roleplay a bard if you want to.  Make up some stories and recite them in-character in-game.  Kada-El\'s would make the perfect setting.  Imagine gathering around the fireplace tipping back a mug of ale while listening to the tales of the great bard.  Sounds like a good way to unwind after a hard day of mining or hunting.  I would come and listen.  :)

Thanks :-)

I would love to be a bard, and I belive in your and Nilrem?s idea. I think I will roleplay a bard and tell the tales in Kada-El?s.
I was also thinking of a bard guild; is there a bard guild in PS? If there isn?t, I think we need one, especially a bard guild whose main concern would be the stories and the tales of PS. I can?t play PS all the time, if we have a bard guild we could take turns concerning the storytelling. I would like to make this bard guild real today. Is there anybody who wants to join this bard guild?

If you bring people back to Kada El\'s and make it alive again, you are more than welcome.

/me goes to shave his beard to look more \"civilized\" for the Kada El\'s tavern.

A guild sounds like a good idea.  It would be a good way of bringing together others that share your vision.  I can\'t think of any bard\'s guilds off the top of my head, but it is hard to say for sure if one exists or has at one time existed.  I would suggest reading the stickies as well as searching the Guilds Forum for help.  Two websites that also may be helpful to you are:

http://www.planeshiftguilds.com/
and
http://www.guildlisting.com/

It will take some thought and some work, but have fun with it.  Hopefully you will get a lot of enjoyment from seeing what comes from the fruits of your labor.  Chances are that if you enjoy \'being\' a bard, there will be people around that enjoy what the bard brings to PS.

Good luck.  :)

There is a guild called Ovates that consists of bards, but I haven\'t seen any of the listed guildmembers around so I believe it is no longer active. Making a bard\'s guild, or simply form a group of travelling bards that come together once in a while, would be awesome.

Ramirez, one of my characters is a bard and I would love to have him participate in any events that you organise, but I do not think I would have the time to join your guild. :)

If it really interests you, you should definetely give it a go! Good luck with it ;)

EDIT: Be sure to check the thread on what to think about when creating a guild:

Lots of good tips there!
