Different Keyboard Layout?
« on: February 02, 2006, 05:12:14 pm »
Hello. This ist not really a bug BUT it\'s a technical question. I\'m using a German keyboard but the game uses an American keyboard layout. So I can\'t type question marks and so on and always have to swap \"y\" and \"z\". Is there a possibility that I can make the game understand that I want to use a German keyboard layout?

Thanks in advance.

I have an italian keyboard and I don\'t have this problem.
why can\'t you type \"?\" ?

Have you tried to remap the keys in the options window?

It\'s because the ?, /, (, ) and so an are on other buttons on the american layout. The y and z are swapped. You can get used to it but I can\'t even type a smiley in the game because I don\'t find the corresponding buttons. It works well in Windows. But in the game I have the different layout. I will try the game once more now, maybe it\'s back to normal. But if it\'s not? What should I do?

I don\'t see how this is related to PS.
If you have troubles with some letters that are defined for some shortcut you can edit them, otherwise, if you don\'t like the keyboard, take another one :-)

(I have a qwerty!)

It\'s not about the keyboard. I\'m using a German one but the thought I was using an American one an expected me to press other buttons. For example: On my keyboard the question mark is on shift + the button next to 9. Brackets are on shift + 8 and shift + 9. Thats different on American keyboards, so if the game thinks I\'m using an American keyboard no brackets will appear when I press when I press shift + 8 or shift + 9. Instead something different will appear.
I see. You don\'t really get that problem. Non-American people sometimes have such problems when using American software because of the different keyboard layout. But never mind. It works now. Seems that it only didn\'t work for some time. But a game restart seems to have solved the problem.

P.S.: I have a German QWERTZ-keyboard :)

Yes, it is about the keyboard ;-)

PS works with different keyboards as input without any problem. If you are using XP you should see DE in the right corner next to the watch \"part\" of the bar.
If you don\'t see it and you see EN that is the problem.
If you don\'t see anything fix the settings of your keyboard in control panel.

PS has nothing to do with the issue you are having as far as I can understand.
