In regards to your community...
« on: February 03, 2006, 02:21:06 am »
I\'d like to know how well the people on this game interact. I\'ve played my fair share of online games, and people on such things tend to be quite harsh, and rather foolish. They run around shouting random obsenities for no reason whatsoever, and condeming everyone and everything.

It bothers me.

But judging by what I\'ve read about this game on the main page, people are actually quite intelligible here.

Is it true?

(Also, I\'d like to know why I am lacking the option of adding a custom avatar.)

Hola no0b^^!

How are the people? Like the real world, it depends on who you meet. As in running around like fools and idiots, Only some Enkis do that (Dwarven glare at Rilar and Dylia ;) ). PS is I think a pretty quiet world, most people are respectful and kind and the GMs do a good job cracking down on rule-breakers. If you talk to people in a RPing fashion, you\'ll be welcomed better and enjoy your time playing much more.

And as to the avatars...only Special People get them. Like Mods and Devs ect.

:D Welcome to planeshift SirAri. From my experience most people in planeshift are rather nice and helpful. We still do get the \"jerks\" who act out but the GM\'s are usually pretty good at calming them down or they get the boot. In game if you find you have questions you can use the help channel, or /who and ask someone randomly. I would suggest using the help channel first though. I hope your journies in PS are full of fun and excitement. Don\'t forget to roleplay..... See you in game....

Actual obsenities aren\'t allowed - we do have a filter for most words, but those that escape or those that make an obvious effort to escape the filter get a poke from Game Masters - and if that doesn\'t help, a mute, kick, or ban depending on their willingness to calm down (or lack thereof). However, \"obsenities\" as acted out in-character can be quite interesting.

The basic rule is, as long as an individual isn\'t making an effort to harass another and stepping on their roleplay, there shouldn\'t be any problems.

But when problems do occur, make a petition through the Petitions window from your top menu, and a GM will help you as soon as he or she can. This need doesn\'t manifest itself often at all, but every place has its share of jerks ;) Luckily, they aren\'t allowed to stay for long.

Xeraans extends his gratitude to the newcomer.
Welcome to the Land of the Azure Sun! I myself am quite appeased with the community here, and have been for a very long time. Though, I must say, the stages of the community have fluxed somewhat considerably over time.

First, back in the primitive stages that I joined in, everything was happy-go-lucky, everyone knew each other, because that was all there was to do. Then the new age came, where new things were introduced, along with thousands of new people, which became a short downfall and drop in the bonds that were made. People got mad, left, but you didn\'t come here to hear about what the community WAS, but what it IS..

I\'d say right now, nomatter what others have to say, the community is really lively right now, if not on the forums, in-game. Everywhere I go, I see plenty of friendly faces, roleplayers, and people having a bit of fun in one way or another.

You\'ll probably hear a lot of people wanting to contradict this fact, for some reason or another, but if you really do look, then you\'ll see for yourself. :)

Welcome to the community, Sir Ari!

Dylia find this thread after some time
O.o wt*? >.>
*nuggies Stephen McNaire*  -.-  \"You so deserve that!?!!\"
------Dylia scolds Rilar for not saying anything------

Anyways to add my piece into this:
I have tried other games now, this was my first ever online game and I decided to look at others. The pro\'s of other games are for people who like to fight and level their character (which yes that is me :P) can find ones that have many more npc to fight and don\'t deal with spawn times or massive people crowding one spawn :| they can wander and fight freely....
but the con\'s as far as I have found so far none have the community like planeshift. Most welcome you whether they are good or bad. Role play comes into playshift easily because most players are role playing and even new people can seek out who is not >.>  I went into other games and first to start off the language -.- then to top it no role play at all. I have yet to find a role playing game that comes even close to planeshift and while I will continue to get my anger management I go elsewhere to fight. When I want some fun with friends I am online in planeshift (although due to real life I cant be there all the time :D *snickers*) and role playing whatever goes one that day *is thankful that Rilar is rescued _finally_ now*
Also to read some of it that does go one try the role play section on this forum *looks at the date SirAri posted*  errr 4 days ago isn\'t bad :P so have fun and hope ta see you in game ^^

It is inevitable that you will find a lot of people that don\'t roleplay, but to my observations, this has gotten better of late.  And you can find Role-Players, sometimes it just takes some searching.  Be persistent, and PS will be lots of fun.

Rilar was rescued?  I\'ve got to get in game...I\'d say were long overdue for some good ol\' character interaction.

hm is Ralas still mad at Rilar?  I can\'t remember...either way it ought to be fun.

People in general here are good.  The biggest problem is actually people who are newer but not new.  Some have been around just long enough to feel that they\'re in a position of authority, and then choose to take offense at things that they shouldn\'t be offended by.  Since they feel that they\'re an authority, but they don\'t understand the dynamics of the game and community, a dangerous combination occurs.

Hey. Welcome to the game.  I totally know where you are comming from.  The first time I logged on I thought that poeple were going to be totally rude to me because I was new but I was happy to find that it was not the case.  The people here are the nicest ever that I have ever met on the internet.  Yes there are the few rogues among us that do not think they should be kind to others, but they get shot down by some long-range weapons or reported to the GMs.

I think that you will have a lot of fun here because, even though I\'ve only been here for a week, I have made many friends and it really allows me to interact with people without worrying about their agendas.  But that\'s a whole story in itself that doesn\'t belong on PS.

Anyways, just make sure to read the manual and steer clear of anything too dangerous when you first go out there.  People will most certainly help you if you ask nicely for their help.

     Wishing you the best,
            Harena Abdolor
