Oodles of Glitches
« on: February 05, 2006, 07:15:49 pm »
I don\'t know if this is specific to Mac OS X, but that is the platform I am using. Today I was in the sewers and I fought a rat... big whoop, right? Well, things were acting extremely laggy and the system seemed to think I had begun an aggressive attack AFTER I had already killed the rat, but that\'s not all. I was stuck in one frame of the attack position as I walked/slid about, and the fighting music was still playing, all the while me trying several ways to stop the attack.

Still I couldn\'t stop my attack, and I tried fighting something to see if a fight would end the glitch, but just as I started the attack, psclient closed all on its own. No big deal, but that was weird.

So I try to log back on, and I get a message telling me to wait 30 seconds and blah blah... so I do so, but afterward I again tried to connect, and I received a message saying that my \"character was still in combat or casting a spell when you disconnected. Please wait for combat to finish and try again\". But only one problem... The attack was never-ending, at least when I saw it, and now I cannot log back on to my best character (or any character for that matter). Please help me! Even about 30 minutes after the glitch I still can\'t log back in! Help!

Edit: (Fixed confusing spelling error.)

character in combat cannot login

This happened to me yesterday as well, but not only could I not get in the game, I couldn\'t get on the bug board or the forums, so I emailed Planeshift. [It went on all day.]

The response was that they\'d initiated something yesterday to cause combat to time out when people quit, and that perhaps this was causing the problem.

I haven\'t tried to get on today, yet [i\'ll do it right now]**works to get on today**

Bereror, the honchos were already notified by email. But yesterday I couldn\'t get any help, as I had no access--today is working normally.

You need help from a GM who can kick your character out. Or hope that the server is restarted soon. For GM help, tell us your character\'s name.

Server crashed, so your character is removed now and you should be able to log in again.

This sounds like a cross-platform bug to me... moving it off to the Tech help forum.

same problem for me today playing on mac OS 10.4.4.

\"Your character (Larun) was still in combat or casting a spell
when you disconnected.  Pleast wait for combat to finished and
try again.\"

Well that was over an hour ago.

Must be i have to wait for another crash to be able to get on.

I think it happen to me yesterday but it was only a few minutes before I
was allowed on.

I am sure I had stopped spell casting and fighting.  It is possible that a
trepor jumped me just as I was disconnecting.

Happened to me also.  Exited normally (and not engaged in combat), but I may have been near an NPC.  Maybe an hour later, I loaded PS.  I got past the account login and character selection and was on the loading screen.  The loading progress bar on the bottom got almost to the end and the client crashed.  The loading screen disappeared and I dropped back to the desktop.  This was over an hour ago.  Now, I get the \"Your character (Einnol) was still in combat or casting a spell ... \" error.  My name shows on the character stats web page as if I was still logged in.

I will try the IRC channel or get someone else to submit a petition in-game, but it does seem that we have a bug here.

Yes, there is a new feature to keep people fighting after they log out, in case they are disconnected in the middle of an important fight. Wouldn\'t want you to be killed by a weak monster just because it got a jump on you!

However, it seems that something else marks you as in combat incorrectly, so we need to find what is causing that. Sorry for the inconvience.

That it is quite alright.  I was able to get in after the next server crash.  :D  I just posted my particulars hoping it could help narrow down the bug causing it.

Thank you for your attention and response.
