[rp] Hole in the Fabric of History
« on: February 11, 2006, 12:36:03 am »
Introduction
{Hello:  Affter much searching through the records of Planeshift3d, I believe I have discovered an unexplained gap in the story of Yliakum.  I intend to exploit this to repair the warp and the weft of the fabric of history, fill in the pattern, and bring it up to the current in game happenings--so to speak.

I will use braces for when I\'m speaking, brackets for narration, and of course, all else will be the story.  I hope everyone enjoys it, and I also hope it becomes a part of the official tale.  Please, use elements of it in your role-playing, and perhaps things in it will also be developed into the game.

Being a newb, I am no game master; I do not know about all the different beasts, items, glyphs, spells, etc.. This is a work in progress for which I don\'t have all the time in the world to instantly complete, but it must start now due to changes happening in the game.}
_________________________________________________
GLOSSARY
Smerge:  The joining of two spiritual beings in a pleasureable embrace, somewhat like a hug, except there bodies merge through and into one mass. (verb and noun)

The Vast Plateau:  A place heretofore unknown to be in Yliakum, and completely inaccessible, except through a treacherous cave high in some very distant mountains at the edges of the known world.

The Cave of Chasms:  The largest cave in Yliakum, unexplored, and undiscovered by the populace.
_________________________________________________

[Everyone who is able to read knows the tale of Talad and Laanx as young lovers, of old Vodul who wanted Laanx for a lover, and Laanx being turned into rocks by a chaotic release of crystal power.  There is very little explaining the reason and the events around this happening.

[It is also known that Talad and Laanx spent much time together working magic, after he had approached her with the deceit of Vodul showing him how, and that the magic performed was far more powerful than any that Laanx had learned--but what was that magic, what were the effects of those spells, and what of Talad\'s and Laanx\'s personal relationship during this time?

[This is the time when our tale begins.  Of course, it is more than just a tale, for these things have taken place, and the relevance of these events will affect the entire world--now and forever.]

The Smerging
« Reply #1 on: February 11, 2006, 12:47:30 am »
During the time of the first epoch, when Talad and Laanx spent much time together working magic, they were also up to other things.  Although they\'d been lovers for some time, they had never smerged while using the magic.  They discussed it and decided it was something they could do.

\"Old Vodul does not need to know\" Talad told Laanx.  \"We spend so much time together with the crystal, surely he is not concerned about such things.\"
\"Perhaps we should keep it a respectable secret, nonetheless,\" assured Laanx, \"just in case he does not approve.  There is no need to provoke him.\"

 [Thus, they agreed]

The magical smerging of Talad and Laanx produced an extremely potent after effect, which would change their lives and the world forever.  As soon as it was discovered that something so powerful was happening, they were filled with trepidation and unease, but as the process continued, sense and reason brought them to the necessary awareness.

\"We have started something neither of us can control,\" Talad mumbled.  \"We cannot let the knowledge of this get out.\"
Laanx whispered back, \"I think it will be alright, but we should not reveal it to Vodul--I fear his power.\"

[The happening that was taking place is the reason Laanx spent much more time with Talad--practising powerful magic as the story goes.  The smerge produced a child: a twin of the most rare kind, a paternal conjoined twin.  One of the twins was male, and the other was female; they were joined at the belly.  This is the very event which caused the discovery for their ability to create life from the crystal--happenstance.

[As is known, Laanx then created the Lemurs.  Unfortunately, Talad being eager for the new world to thrive went beyond even this; he attempted to harness the whole power of the crystal in his body, and to smerge again using a spell of populace--the resulting horror is known.]

The Child
« Reply #2 on: February 12, 2006, 08:22:33 pm »
When the child came into being, Talad and Laanx were somewhat saddened that it would be unable to thrive in a conjoined state, and they had to find a way to separate them.  The crystal was capable of generating a magic to do so, but they would have to be careful to try it on objects, and other less important things--to prevent torturing the child.

There was also the task of a name for this new being, which was actually two, and that must come first, they felt.

\"Before we change the nature of our child,\" said Laanx, \"we should give it a name; perhaps that would help it to retain its birth power more fully.\"
\"Yes, yes,\" replied Talad, \"I think this would be good; it may also aid in the stability of the separation magic.\"
\"But let\'s not be too hasty.\" Laanx breathed.

[They thought long and hard, constantly watching the child for any and all observable hints of an identity word to name it.]

Laanx spoke first, \"Well, obviously, it is part both of us, and it has both of our characteristics.\"
Talad agreed, \"Yes, yes, it does, and yet they seem to also be separate entities.\"
Laanx began but did not finish, \"I think....\"
 Talad stepped in, \"We could name it--er them--after us.\"
\"I think that would be well,\" Laanx nodded in approval.  \"Let us call it TalasLaans, for of Talad and of Laanx.  Then, when they are separated he can be Talas, and she can be Laans.\"
Talad agreed, \"Your intelligence and beauty always amaze me.\"

Now that the child was named, they could work on the daunting task of separating such an important living and spiritual being without injuring it.  After much experimenting with rocks, plants, and even rodents, it was decided that they had found the very spell necessary to separate the twins, and so they set to performing all the rituals, mixing the ingredients, and other necessary preparations for it to work.  Then they released the magic.

After a time of calmness, there came a gentle wind, and a hissing sound.  The child squirmed a little, but not in pain.  Soon the air filled with multi-colored lights whirling about TalasLaans.  The hissing became sizzling as the lights wound down around the connection of their belly.  Finally, there was a, \"pop\" (like the pop of a cork).  This conjoined twin had successfully, and without harm, become twins--Talas and Laans.

[Talad and Laanx had agreed to keep the magical smerging between them a secret, and so also, TalasLaans and the separation, but there was more--much more.]

The Glyph
« Reply #3 on: February 12, 2006, 11:05:15 pm »
After the conjoined twin was separated, Talad and Laanx drew in and picked up the children--Talad excitedly held Talas, and Laanx affectionately rocked Laans--inspecting them carefully.  There was nothing found to be wrong with either of them, but there was a mark on their bellies where they had been joined--it was a new glyph.

Neither Talad nor Laanx had ever found a glyph like this, or even heard of one in existence.  This one contained all the colors of the magic ways within, and seemed to have no power of it\'s own.  Only when two or more glyphs of other ways were brought near, or when different items touched it at once, did its energy build up.  The two gods wondered at what this must be, but the only possible answer they had to find out was to approach Vodul, and inquire.  Still, they must keep their secret, and how could they do that taking the children to show him the glyphs.

Finally, they realized.  \"We could fashion a sculpture of it, take that to vodul,\" Talad told Laanx.
\"Yes, that may work,\" Laanx agreed, then added, \"and describe it to him, perhaps he will not see its source.\"

[Since Laanx was favored of Vodul, she went alone to learn about the glyph.]

Vodul queried, \"Where did you find such a glyph?\"
Laanx, not wanting to reveal the secret, answered, \"I found it in the caves.\"
\"Hmm,\" Vodul thought, \"then it should be brown--if it is from there.\"
Laanx became uneasy at this response, thinking he could see more than he was letting show.
\"Are you sure this is from the caves?\" Vodul looked directly at her, expressionless.
This made her very nervous, \"I...I don\'t know really.  It was among some old things I had collected in my wanderings over the ages.\"  She grasped for a better answer, \"I suppose it could be from the plains, the fields, or even the mountains.\"  Inhaling deeply, and holding it in thought, she finished, \"I\'ve had it for a long time.  I was just going through my stuff, and hoped you would know what it is.  Do you?\"
Vodul scratched his head and looked at it, then looked at her long and hard.
Laanx thought surely he knows what it is, and that I\'m hiding something.  She began to fear the power of vodul more than ever.
Then Vodul grinned, his eyes glinted, and he said, \"I cannot tell you.\"
\"You mean,\" Laanx was shocked and relieved at the same time, \"you don\'t know?\"
\"All I will say of this, is that I cannot tell you,\" Vodul said flatly, and shook his head.  He turned to walk away, then turned back, \"Perhaps--if you were to bring me the actual glyph--then I could help.\"  He smiled.

When Laanx returned to Talad, he was most anxious for the answer.  Even without greeting her, he quickly asked, \"What did he say?\"
Laanx gave Talad a perplexed look.  \"Either he doesn\'t know, or he is not talking.\"
Talad\'s jaw dropped slightly, \"What do you mean?\"

[Laanx told him what Vodul said.]

The two of them wondered just how much Vodul actually knew, but they were certainly not going to bring either Talas or Laans for him to see.

[So, they had even more to deal with: how would they keep the twins hidden, and what could be done to assure their survival in the event Vodul found out, but did not approve?

[The two founding gods of Yliakum discussed seriously and planned ornately for every outcome they could consider in order to keep the twins a secret.  The task was daunting (to say little).  It was decided that Talad would hide and protect Talas, and Laanx the same for Laans--in the event anything would separate them.

[Then the unforeseen did, indeed, happen; that tragic event of Talad\'s attempt to use more power than he was skilled to use (he was lucky it did not also smash and populate him).

[It is, of course, well know that Talad attempted to reunite with Laanx in the third epoch; however, the knowledge of their smerging, TalasLaans, and the mighty glyph were deliberately left out of the history--to guard the secret.

[During this meeting which took place when Talad found Laanx in the Stone Labyrinths, they both practiced some deceit.  Laanx told her ex-lover that Laans had fallen down a deep chasm, and was never found.  Talad, behaving in like fashion, said that Talad escaped his hiding; a long search discovered only a pool of blood--\"he was probably eaten.\"

[The glyph proved to be one of the most rare, most unusual--and most powerful glyphs of all.  It was a glyph of combine.  This item is so magical that it can combine any forms of glyphs for spells; with advanced skills it is said to be able to combine items, and it is rumored that, for the very advanced, this glyph has the power to combine anything.]

Growing Up
« Reply #4 on: February 14, 2006, 12:44:46 am »
[According to the prearanged agreement between Talad and Laanx the twins were brought up believing their parents were only guardians which found them at birth, but of course, loved them dearly and they couldn\'t have any better parents (or parent, actually).  Due to the division, the twins never met one another, and never knew the other existed--the secret was kept even from them.  Both of them were occupied with otherworldly games and practicing magic, to prevent them from desiring to leave their hiding.  Anyone with experience of children knows that such a perfect plan can\'t last forever; something not only expected, but hoped for (with dread in this case) by their parents, as it would show proper and healthy progress for the twins.

It must be noted, before we begin this part of the tale, that gods and their descendants grow up very slowly.]

As wanderlust does possess so many pubescent adolescents, so it did with Talas and Laans.  They learned ways to escape the watchful eye, more and more, but were always careful to avoid public view--lest someone should notice them.  They often explored the open fields where they could see people for miles; as fate would have it they were both on the same plain one day.  They saw each other at the same time, and hid; something caused their hearts to jump, and the glyph on their belly to buzz.  Their curiosity overcame the fear, and they stepped out to meet the other at the same time.

Neither of them knew what it was that they were experiencing--they\'d not heard of one another--nor were they revealing their feelings.  However, they continued to meet often, and were very much in love.  Their parents knew nothing of their rendevous, so how to tell them was a matter often discussed.  What wasn\'t revealed is who their guardians actually were; this they kept secret from each other, fearing it would cause too much trepidation for their love to bear.

[Laanx had better success keeping Laans out of public eye, than did Talad with Talas--for Talas began to practice as a priest of Talad.  Talad was somewhat upset, and explained the importance of a low profile to one of such stature (especially with the secrets surrounding his entire existence).  Talas, at first, disagreed--he was not using his name, or telling anyone about the real past--but Talad insisted, so Talas conceded, and moved to a small village in order to maintain his low profile.  This is most likely the source for the ritual of the sign (a practice among the lower populations) but that is just a glyph of protection.]

One day, Laans overheard her servant lemurs talking about the priest with a mark, \"Could it be the same as our mistress?\"  Laans had to find out.  She covered herself with a traveller\'s robe and went to see this rumored priest.  Using a spell of camoflage combined with invisibility, she snuck into the place of Tlad worship where he was rumored to be, and stood behind a cheap sculpture in the corner.  When she saw who he was she gasped, but still waited--for she was to meet with him later that day.

As he left, she followed.  All the way to the meeting place, she went right behind him--often mimicking his steps--thinking so many thoughts she really wasn\'t sure what she\'d do.

The time came that she was very late, and Talas mumbled, \"Oh, what is keeping her?\"
She threw off the robe and ended the spell, \"I\'m right here, you stupid priest!\"
   \"Um--er--uh--you followed me?\" Talas stammered.
\"I hear you have a ma-ark on your belly,\" she eyed back at him.
\"Do you promise not to tell anyone?\" Talas said ashamedly.  \"I was never supposed to show it, but someone saw me swimming in the fields.\"
\"Oh really?\" Laans cocked her head, \"How would you feel if I had a mark like that?\"  Then she looked away and muttered, \"...and was a priest?\"
\"I was just keeping the family secrets, \" he sputtered.  \"I never meant any deceit.\"
\"We were discussing running away together, and you are a PRIEST!\"  She was obviously irritated.
\"Well--I am not really a priest,\" he squirmed, \"I use a different name and identity.  We can still leave and dissappear, and no one will know anything better of what happened to me.\"

[After some discussion, they made the final decision to run away together, and never let Talad and Laanx know that they had met.  After all, they are grown adults, long time past teenagers, and both felt they essentially did not exist, so no one would miss them much--except the one that knew them.  They still did not tell each other exactly who their guardians were.  As for their matching marks and looks, that actually encouraged them to believe they were definitely meant to be together--perhaps it was from a higher or older god than Talad and Laanx.

[Even though there were rumors surrounding a priest, the elaborate planning of Talad and Laanx obviously worked extremely well, because their secret has remained hidden until the time we are in now.  (Of course, the servants of Laanx do not tell anything.)  Some may even still believe these are just tall-tales, but as truth is wont to do--the influence of it affects changes magically, in a way people cannot foresee.]

The Son of TalasLaans
« Reply #5 on: February 14, 2006, 04:07:01 am »
[Talas and Laans went high into the mountains.  There they found a cave which led to The Vast Plateau.  This was a very lush land with no people of any sort, and here is where they settled--eventually deciding to start a family.  They had a son (whose name shall not be mentioned, to protect his identity) we will call him \'unnamed\' for this story.]

Their child grew up playing the same otherworldly games Talas and Laans had grown up with, and practiced the ways of magic to keep himself occupied and uninterested in searching for more in life.  As he grew he also had many encounters with various animals and monsters so he learned the use of weapons as well.  Eventually, he realized he was alone, and as he wandered the fields, forests, and hills, he began more and more to feel lonely.  He told his parents of his loneliness, and they did all they could, but the time came when he must adventure much farther, to find the sort of company he was longing for.

Talas and Laans revealed to him the secret of their guardians and where they came from--telling him of a cave high in the mountains which led to a populated area of Yliakum.  They warned him that it is a very treacherous way, and excessively long.  At first, he thought better of traveling it, and believed he would just remain with his parents in this vast plateau.  Of course, the loneliness grew with magical proportion, and he soon was yearning to see all these people, and cities.  His curiosity eventually overwhelmed him, and he searched for the cave--it took many weeks, but he had found it.  There he camped, and investigated for several days.

He returned to his home; his parents had been quite worried, but they had been watching him and knew he would have to follow his inner compulsions--to leave.  He told them of the cave, and they confirmed it was indeed the correct one.

After moping for many more days, he informed them, \"I must go see these people you speak of.\"

They understood and prepared a going away feast.

The next day they all  packed his stuff and loaded a beast of burden.

His parents warned him \"remember, not all people are to be trusted.\"

[The journey was very treacherous, moreso than \'unnamed\' had ever encountered.]

While in the caves, a giant cave spider accosted the beast of burden as \'unnamed\' slept, and when he found it the carcass was shriveled--engulfed by many spiders draining it\'s life.  The son of Talaslaans resented the loss and slew the spiders; within the giant cave spider was a glyph of weakness.

\'Unnamed\' had found a glyph of freeze in the mountains while he was searching for the cave, when he combined it with the glyph of weakness, he learned a powerful spell of drain, that could be cast at a short distance without the need to touch.  His next encounter with a cavern dweller proved this spell would drain the life out of a monster, disease it, and reduce it\'s strength.  Also, when combined with a heal glyph then the drained energy would be transferred to the caster.  With this new knowledge, he became more confident traversing the cave.

[Unfortunately, confidence in travellers can mean their demise.  The son of TalasLaans slipped into a very deep narrow chasm; as he fell his body was broken, beaten, and bruised upon the rocks, until it was literally ground apart.]

[He fell, and fell, and fell--he continued to fall, even after having lost his body to the jagged edges of the rocks.]

Eventually, \'unnamed\' stopped falling in a place of complete dark.  He could see nothing, feel nothing, smell nothing, and hear nothing; he stuck out his tongue--and tasted nothing.  Yet, he was there, so he moved slowly through the blackness, falling many times--collapsing many times.  He grieved much for the life he\'d had.  Time was futile, and space--without senses--was immeasurable.  There was no apparent way to determine if he was even going in circles.  After long wandering, he learned to depend wholly on the awareness of his steps, and the pressure within his joints to determine what was straight walking, but even his weight was not like when he was alive.

Forever, he walked in what seemd to be a straight line; it could have been months, or maybe years.  He was beginning to forget his name, but the love for his parents kept his identity intact, and he often heard their voices in his thoughts calling him to bed, or dinner.  It became like a never ending dream of memories--not really there.  Even hunger and thirst were senses he could no longer enjoy or experience.  There was, however, one or two times that he was aware of the presence of a passing being or entity.

Finally, he saw a small faint light far ahead in the darkness, and he went toward it.  The light was coming through a long narrow tunnel, seemingly dug out of and through the murky dark mist which he was in.  He layed down and wormed through the space.

At the other end was a very large chasm, but there, floating overhead like an eerie omen, was some kind of world, very different from the surrounding darkness, yet apparently part of it.  He wandered in the bottomless black of this place for days, and he sensed the presence of many other beings moving about more invisible than spectres, less tangible than ghosts.  He neither knew what they were, nor could he interact in any way with them--this was worse than the death he had found previously.

One day there began to fall from the floating world, glistening lights that would fade then go out when they hit the bottom.  He got close enough to one to see that it was the dead soul of a previously living person.  He ran as fast as he could to talk to one of them when they fell, but every time they\'d just look at him, crumple, and disappear.

He wandered the bottomless depths gazing at the arches, and pathways above him.  Longing for the chance to see and speak with people--someone, anyone, somehow--once again.  After an unknown amount of time [for in the bottom of Death Realm time and space are distorted in such a way that although one runs as fast as they can, the distance they cover may be great, or may be small--it is like running through black gel] he saw a glyph of weakness appear, and wondered where it had come from.  Of course, it would do him no good in this state, so he left it there and wandered away.  He saw a flying beast up on one of the rocks floating above him, and wondered how he could get it to come down.  After watching it for endless days, he said out loud, \"Oh-h, I wish that thing would fly down.\"

Suddenly, the flying beast floated down to the bottom, and he could see it was a cackarass.  It was not very intelligent and could not communicate, but he tried anyway.  Then after much time flying on the bottom the creature started to return to the rocks above; Talaslaans\' son jumped onto it hanging on tight as he could (the way he\'d learned with animals on the vast plateau he grew up in) and the cackarass sprung into the sky.  Amazed by how easy it was to hang on, he realized that he had no substance, and therefore did not need to strangle hold the beast until it was gasping, so then it settled back down to the rock.

The first thing he saw was an unusual looking woman with horns hack a sword through him and into the cackarass; she continued hacking until it was dead.  He must\'ve been invisible as the beings below.  He watched as the people came up a nearby ladder and ran down the pathway.  Curious, he went to see where they were coming from, hoping that he could find a way to become a living soul again.

There, he found a magically hewn out rock with a kind of death guardian.  Amazingly, he could communicate with this heart ripped mass.

\"Hello,\" he said, but there was no sound.
\"Hail, dead soul.\" The death guardian responded!  \"You are dead and traveling into the Death Realm, find your way.\"
\'Unnamed\' responded, \"Uh, I am long dead, more dead than these souls here--I think.\"
The guardian opened it\'s eyes, \"So it seems. I have never encountered one like you.\"
\"Is there anyway I can become one of these?\"  Unnamed questioned the guard.
\"Hmmm, there may be,\" the death guard pondered.  \"If you could help me, then I will help you.\"
  \"What do you need?\" \'Unnamed\' offered.
\"A soul left this rotten meat; I want to feed it to my pet, but I cannot find him, and he has not been here recently.  If you could take it to him, then he will help you.  He is a cackarass.\"  Death guardian returned to his previous silent self.
 \'Unnamed\' thought, \"Can I pick something up?\"

He tried, and sure enough he could.

[In Death Realm, things do not weigh as they do in Yliakum.]

He ran expectantly to the Cackarass at the top of the ladder, but it was not there.  \'Unnamed\' searched everywhere, finally falling from the rock into the murky bottom again.  He saw the light of the cackarass in the distance, and ran to it as fast as he could--finding hope, once again, for his life.

The cackarass voracioulsy consumed the rotten meat.  Then stared at \'unnamed\', and began to fly up; again he had to jump and hang on.  This time the beast flew to the mouth of the great rock sculpture of the death god which floated in the middle of this eerie world.

Somehow, the son of TalasLaans, knew what to do.  He must go into the mouth, then he would return at the place of the death guardian.  It was as if someone, or something, had put the thoughts in his head.  Strangely, he also thought, \"Then the way will finally be open.\"

Continued.....(still)

Living Again
« Reply #7 on: February 15, 2006, 01:39:56 am »
With little hesitaion, \'unnamed\' peered into the mouth, and eased in, then realized his options, and jumped down the throat.  He spawned out in the same place as the dead souls he had seen before.  He stepped up to the death guardian to greet him and thank him, but this time the guard only spoke the one phrase, the first statement he\'d given before, and no matter what else \'unnamed\' said--this being was not interested.

He happily made his way down the path, but when he came to the first platform, this time the path was very dark, as black as the depths below it.  He could not see where to go, so he stopped to gaze at the huge sculpture of the death god floating in front of him.  After a little reminiscing, he edged carefully up the path (he knew where it was, he\'d already been there).  As he came around the corner he could see the bright pathways below, and carefully continued on this dark path, and up the ladder.  He watched the souls with great curosity, and followed them.

Soon he found a library, and had to investigate.  First, he went into the room to the left--there he found an ulbert heart and ruby crystals (probably left by someone).  He took them thinking, this may be useful.  Strangely, none of the books were readable; they would not give up their knowledge, it was as if he could no longer read--very strange for him.

He headed into the main part of the library.  As he turned the corner he saw an extremely strong looking being behind the counter, apparently reading a book.  \'Unnamed\' could feel the power of this entity, there was more to it than any mere creature.

At first the being ignored him, and only the strange pet would look at \'unnamed\' (this was no groffel) then the entity-being stared at the son of TalasLaans--glaring with extreme hatred.  \'Unnamed\' was taken back, and thought, why does this one hate me so much?

\"All the citizens of Death Realm hate the souls of the living.  We resent their sensuality, such capability for pleasures--wasted on mere animals.  You came to us through the Cave of Chasms.  We are the presences you felt in lost death.\"  The quite visible entitiy continued, \"Now the way is open.  Now, the citizens of Death Realm can begin to appear.  Thank-you, son of TalasLaans.\"  The being turned and slowly walked up the stairs, then both it and the pet mysteriously vanished.
\'Unnamed\' was at a loss for words.

[What could all this mean?  Are there citizens in Death Realm--will they soon be showing themselves?  Could the son of TalasLaans actually in some way be responsible for the manifestation of these beings?]

He inspected the rest of the library, and finding nothing useful, continued to follow the other souls (hopefully out of deathrealm).  There were paths to thresholds that went nowhere, and many of them were in such a state of decay that parts were more like snares than a walkway, and then there were dark ones winding out accross the void, but eventually he discovered the carving of some strange being which was breathing pink essence.  This must be it, he thought, the portal to the world of the living, and in he went.

Next, he found himself in a town--with a bran new body.  He was so happy he spun around, and jumped up and down.  He felt the breeze blow through his hair, and took a deep breath--there was a bit of a stench--but he didn\'t care.  He was alive!

He heard voices and went to investigate.  He was very curious, often eaves-dropping on groups of people just to hear what they were talking about.  He remembered the warning of his parents, \"Not all people are to be trusted.\"

When he first arrived, the citizens were all very ignorant folk.  Most of them couldn\'t even have a conversation, some barely knew how to greet a stranger.  Not one of them would hire him or even discuss work with him, not even simple errands; he was beginning to wonder if they had any intelligence at all.  Unfortunately, he had to resort to killing rats in the sewers to survive, and although they were huge greasy rats, they were hardly worth eating--especially for someone of such refined tastes.  There wasn\'t even a fish pond in town, and the people who claimed to be cooks were so stupid they couldn\'t conduct a transaction.

There was also some kind of terrible curse upon the whole place--completely unexplainable.  He\'d kill a couple of rats, then everything would freeze and fade away; when it all returned to normal he would be back in time, not even to the rats yet.  These effects kept happening every few minutes, and continued for days.  \'Unnamed\' was becoming very irritated with his new life, he considered whether the lost death was better, but the thought of one day being reunited with his parents, and learning of the people as he had set out to do, kept him going on.

He watched the people with great curiosity.  Eventually, they were talking of quests and adventures for travellers to get.  The citizens became more friendly, and he found the much needed work.  He travelled and traded between Akkaio and Hydlaa, always listening and watching the people.

[So now, our tale is done, although the story goes on--but who is this son of TalasLaans?
Could this new found history of Yliakum really be true?  (Well, of course it is.)
[What about the glyph of combine--where could such a powerful thing be found? Would a person have to travel all the way to The Vast Plateau to get one?  Could it be that only Talas and Laans are able to form such a powerful glyph?
[What about the citizens of Death Realm?  Will they really soon be appearing--and vanishing?  Me thinkest so.  ;)

   {Well, I am finished enough with this story; I only need to post one more time for an explanation.  You might want to go back and review, due to edits, you may have missed something--especially, in the introduction.  Again, I hope the elements of this story will be used for in game RP, perhaps also by GMs. (Of course, there is also that which the developers can work with as well.)}

{I came up with this idea, and its elements rather spontaneously.  I wasn\'t sure whether this was the place to post it, but I know it can be used in the fashion that things here are used.

There is of course much to be used: new found history, a stranger in Yliakum (actually there), a new activity, and new places to be....

Being a newb, I wasn\'t sure whether I\'d be cross-whacking actual things already in game, but I apparently didn\'t because no one PMed me telling me that was not in agreement with what was actual.

I received on PM from a moderator, concerning whether it should be here--and explained all this.  It could be that this section of the forum is only for GM organized stuff--I\'m still unclear on this.

So, since it is here, I certainly hope it will be used by both role players, and GMs in the game (I know the developers have their work cut out for them.)

This thread is now open to play with.}

Enjoy

[ Open thread! \\o/

This is.. certainly something different :) Unfortunately, both GMs and developers tend to stay away from player-created stories (that are made public like so), because things like history (even fill-in-the-blanks history) belongs entirely to the Settings team. It\'s nice of you to try to provide more content for others to work with, but anyone can provide such content themselves, and there\'s no way of making it official unless you\'re on the team ;) Stories cannot be \"donated\" in the way that art or code is.

However, it is an interesting read indeed - regardless of everything else.

One thing about the placement of this thread in the In-Game RP forum: this section is for things that have happened or are happening in-game as brought about through actual player characters (Laanx and Talad do not count). For \"basic\" storytelling, we have the Roleplay (Communitive Storywriting) forum section where people are free to share any PlaneShift related writing, that is not required to be \"factual\" in-game. When contributing material for others to use, that would probably be the best place in the future :) ]

Judge: Are you trying to show contempt for this court, Mr Smith?
Smith: No, My Lord. I am attempting to conceal it.

I don\'t like it anymore anyway.  It has some good bits, but it ends crappy (in my opinion) and it didn\'t tie in as much as I thought it would. So, go ahead and move it or do whatever you want to it.

I reread it a couple of times, and I go ooo once, am moved by one short scene--then the ending makes me want to throw it at a fly and burn it.  [It is unfortunate, however, that the teams don\'t take \"donations\" as you call it.  (I already understood they were working on combining magics and placing npc in death realm--but my story ends sucky, so I don\'t care.)]

With the recent developments of rumors regarding his origins, and a woman whom he thought may have been his mother--but now believes she is not, if she even exists--the son of TalasLaans became very homesick, and set out to find the mountains with the cave.

He was never heard from again, for a very, very long time--if ever.

[Hopefully, he will also find a wife or two (or three) along the way.]
