Affter finally gathering the 2400 trias I needed for them I went and bought them, and it turns out I\'m dealing LESS damage than with the Broadswords! I genuinely feel like I\'ve been robbed...
A broadsword takes 3 \"time units\" to hit and deals 2.7 \"damage units\".
A longsword takes 2.1 \"time units\" to hit and deals 2.2 \"damage units\".
So while a broadsword deals more damage per hit, over time you\'re actually better off with the longsword.
You\'re better off still with the shortsword, and then the falchion before that, but the
sabre is the best out of the bunch. The claymore hits for the most, and is also the slowest.
If you want to do all your damage in one hit then run away, or kill with the first blow, then a broadsword or claymore might work for you. Otherwise, you are infact better off with something else.
It used to be that we couldn\'t see the numbers, so we had to experiment in order to figure this stuff out!
http://www.planeshift3d.com/wbboard/thread.php?threadid=16338&boardid=13The thing is, there are different versions of every weapon.
Silver is better than basic,
Gold is better than silver,
Platinum is better than gold.
Ornated and Reinforced weapons will be better as well.
By \"better\", I mean that in each case they are both faster and they deal more damage per hit. Steel, Iron, Scorced, Icy, Frosty, Dark, and Fire weapons deal more damage, but they aren\'t any faster.
There are many many many other modifiers though. At least dozens. For instance, right now I\'m using an \"Eagle\'s Dark Dagger\" and a \"Trigrain-Steel Dark Dagger\". Both have speed 1.4 like normal daggers, but have a damage rating of 3.0 which is pretty spiffy for a weapon that fast! There are people I play with in game though who have daggers that have slashes of 7.5, so even though mine are good they\'re hardly the best. There\'s a big variety.
Of course, my Eagle\'s dagger gives a +20 bonus to agility which my friends can\'t brag about. :-D
