HP Question
« on: February 19, 2006, 07:23:31 pm »
I\'ve asked these questions ingame, but never got an answer, just a lot of I don\'t knows:

How can I tell how many HP I have (without finding an unfreindly mob and arranging for a visit to the DR).

How do I increase HP?   I\'ve seen references to Endurance, Strength and Agility.   Which one increase it the most.   How much?

TIA!

With the current client software you don\'t know. The next version will show you the actual number instead of some %.

And you are correct about different stats, they all increase your HP. How much? It is described in a script file on the server and only devs know exactly, what they have put into it. Giving you the exact formula would go against the spirit of the game.

Hi,
there are three vars involved in calculating the HP.
Will, Agility and Strength.
Not more, not less.

Correct me if i am wrong Bereror ;-)

Isn\'t Will magic-related? Endurance should figure into the equation more so, I\'d think.

I guess you are looking at the rpgrules.xml file ;)

Code: [Select]

Keep in mind that the rpgrules.xml file in the CVS is just an example and has nothing to do with the actual HP calculations on the official server.

Uh, what?  I thought that you devs got RID of the numbers due to suggestions made in these forums?

I mean, we used to be able to see the numbers for everything.  Now we can\'t.  And you\'re saying they\'re going to go back into the game?  Seems like a step backwards to me.

Hi,
if it is as you say:

Quote:

So what is it there for?
And why was it changed when the last weapon wipe and fighting recalculation was done?

Maybe, or better hopefully, there are more sophisticated calculations on the server.
But I think the vars are the same,
or at least all of them are used for calculation of the max HP.

Well, evidently that was done without proper input from Talad, so he wants it back :P

I\'m new and remember reading about this, let me find the link.  Hmmm.  Here it is:

2.5.3. Hit Points
Hit Points are calculated with a formula that involves strength, agility and endurance - endurance being the greatest factor. A character can increase his or her Hit Points by training in the skill of Body Development.

Unfortunately the Body Development skill is not implemented yet, so it doesn\'t count right now ;)

lol.

You guys are so entertaining :)

Thanks that helps alot!   I\'ll get training on Endurance just in time for the wipe....

now, if the servers would just come up...

I guess that\'d give me time to work on my sig.

Hit points calculation

Since I\'ve found mush in the manual which is either not implemented or is not current, I speak from experience and observations. (Even with the recent recalculations.)

Hit points seem to definitely depend on strengthe and endurance, possibly also agility, will has an effect, but also experience (not as rolling stat, but overall).

Explanation:
The characters I\'ve played got more hit points with more combat experience.
Also, the more strength and endurance, the more hitpoints.
However, agility largely affect how often one gets hit--so may only seem to affect hit points.
High will characters are tenaciosly tough, low willed characters seem to give up their last 12% of hit points.
Very strong, and endurance characters last through many hits--also, very strong hit very hard--so strenth can win a fight before monster has chance to knock out the hp.

but so little time spent in each character that I don\'t know what it would be like if all stats were over 100--I do know that when one stat goes over 100, major improvement for all things related to that stat.

***I forgot to add that low endurance characters don\'t seem to lose much hp, but run out of steam to fight--so if fighting a highly aggressive npc, you run or you dead.
