« on: February 20, 2006, 04:47:15 am »
I look this one through

Chains or a chain
-the freemoving object like a wip but wieghs more and hurt more

-varibles
--type of materiel that chain is made of
--type of shape S or C chain
--lenght of chain
--thickness of chain
-- the wieght of the chain or head as it is otherwise called

you could nun-chucks(lol), maces, and such other \" chained weapons into this category

Hi

I like the chain and whip idea in general. Not too many games have them, and they most likely were available in medieval ages. The problem in these is the animating. It\'s not easy to recreate the movement of whip or chain and make it look realistic. Especially so in 3d and multiplayer.

If they are going to be implemented, it will be quite far in the future.

Sorry to be nitpicky, but a Mace is a club with spikes for penetrating armor.   You are probably thinking of a flail.

lol that\'s so true... unless they move their shield so that the ball hits the shield instead of the chain, so maybe you would just need a higher shield handling level to block it because it\'s not impossible to block

Flail

I dont know how many of you folks have experience using these kind of mideval weapons, but flails are as dangerous to the wielder as they are to his opponent. The tendancy to whip it back after a strike would lead to a lot of self induced injuries.

An experienced fighter that knows how to deal with a flail can make ya look stupid too.

lol! I think you meant \'implement\'.

Anyways, that is a good idea. You should miss often when using them, but they should be impossible to parry.

I think it would be awesome to have more weapons that would fall under the knives and daggers catagory... I can\'t wait until I see more whips and such.  The chain thing is a very good idea I think.  It would be a pain to animate though.  Maybe in the later versions of PS?  Anyways, that would be really sweet and thank you for putting that out there.  I would look foward to wielding that sort of weapon. ^.^

I think before we can have flails, whips, morning stars and the lot, we need different combat animations for different weapons. I can\'t see the Ylaan combat animation working with a spear :P

I while back i was thinking about whips and chains. A highly trained fighter in that class should be able wrap a whip around their opponent\'s weapon and rip it out of their hands.

flails and whips

Flails and whips are not impossible to parry. Also pulling a weapon from someones hand is not as easy as Hollwood makes it look. In fact the flail user can easily be pulled off balance or lose his weapon.

An attempt to pull someone over or their weapon would need an apposed test. Strength and balance would be involoved.

I understand there are technical limitations, and dont expect this anytime soon.

I also think whips/flexible/chain type weapons would be a good thing to add.  DAoC had them, but they were restricted to certain class types.  It\'d be good to see these implemented later, since very few games bother with them. Also bring some varied combat skills to the table, like entangling, or immobilizing/tripping the opponent up, or possibly disarming.  Anyways, good thoughts :)

Defender i think what your talking about is a chain mace or i think its called a morning star. handle then a chain then a ball with spikes on the end. the witch king used one in the lord of the rings before he died in the third movie. haveing a chain mace in game would be awesome as well as some maces also another good wepon would be throwing knifes/axes.

I haven\'t seen spears, pikes or anything that has a far reach in the game... How about thrown spears? Any possibilty in the game to have them?
