How to argue...
« on: February 21, 2006, 01:43:56 pm »
Hi,
i\'ve been reading a few posts here and i\'m finding it rather annoying when good discussions and arguments about topics/ideas eventually turn into \'whinge, whinge, whinge, moan, moan, moan\' or \'I am right because I say so\'. This is why i would like to add this link for people to read on how to structure a good argument.

http://www.actdu.org.au/archives/actein_site/logarg__.html

If you have anything you want to add to this feel free to. I\'d also like to apologise to any people who take offense from me posting about them making **** arguments which equate to \'I am right because I said so\'.

At my school we actually learn how to argue, some other schools might consider giving those classes too.  ;)
We're not evil. We're simply amazing.

Sounds like a party! lol

Anyway, arguing should really be taught on school, in my school we made debates sometimes, but they were boring because people wouldn\'t keep an order and it would end up on screaming from one side of he classroom to the other. I do remember though, they once brought this dumbass writer to give a conference on who-knows-what, cant remember his name, but he  started talking about men being superior to women and stuff, and my school is very open minded, so we all thought that was bull, so we started by pointing out some counterpoints to his speech, we went bannanas and jumped at us... we ate the guy alive, that was fun. I don\'t think the guy ever returned.

*smokes from his pipe*

... interesting subject...

*crosses his arms on front of him, one of his hands moves to his chin and starts playing with his beard, looking thoughtful*
