Polymerized Tung oil is great.

Unlike nitro, it\'s safe to use without tonnes of expensive equipment.  Like nitro and unlike poly, each layer will actually bond to the previous coat.  Touch up jobs are really easy because of that fact, whereas with poly it\'s almost impossible.  It\'s also really forgiving, so you can do it by hand instead of with a sprayer.

One thing I don\'t like about it is that it\'s not great on porous woods like mahogany.  It also does wear off over time, and doesn\'t form as potent a moisture barrier.  It\'s been really fun to work with though.

French shellac is next on my list.  Apparently, traditional shellac is made out of all edible ingredients including eggs and oils from nuts.

Tung oil sucks, \'nuff said  (Now if I could only figure out what tung oil is...)
