Yes. In the scheme of things, everything is just an update ;)
2: bitofrent--I read up on it at wiki. Seems like a useful thing, except for its capability to get files that it may not be authorized to do so--concerned?
Besides the files you specify are available for others and the files you yourself download (which are automatically shared), nothing from anywhere on your computer is going to be leaked out.
What is BitTorrent uploading from my machine?Pieces of the file you\'re currently downloading. BitTorrent trades pieces you have with pieces your peers have.2a: Must I get another program for it?
No, you just need some sort of client - downloading BitTorrent will give you one, while I personally prefer using
Azureus.
2b: Will this program be used to find copies of any bits it needs for other progs besides Planeshift, or will only ps be seeded, leeched, and swarmed?
Torrents work around whatever files you tell them to - so if you only open the PlaneShift torrent, PlaneShift will be the only thing circulating.
2c: What if my network master turns me into a leech--will my bitor connecting be affected?
Ah... hm, not sure what \"turning into a leech\" entails, so I\'ll leave this one.
2d: Does BT work with mac 10.2.8?
Can I use BitTorrent on Mac OS X?You can use BitTorrent on Mac OS X 10.3 and newer. BitTorrent currently does not work under OS X 10.2.Remember that there are other clients aside from BitTorrent available.
3: I understand the mac version isn\'t available. I\'m on a mac: 10.2.8 (Has been running without lag--even while I use several other applications--so don\'t make fun of 3 yr old buzz master comps) Will PS continue to be compatible with macos 10.2.8?
Once compatibility exists, it isn\'t likely to be lost. I believe the answer is yes.
4: I notice that in the couple of hours since implementation--only 18 people have come back on. Is the proportion of Planeshift users dominant to Mac, or is there just much much trouble with BT (on PC)?
The number of people on the server has nothing to do with what system they are using, if I understood your question correctly. The server is a bit unstable after an update, as always, plus not everyone has managed to download the new client yet, plus some folks are having problems with installation, interestingly enough, etc. Until the mirrors have been updated, the number of PSers in-game is bound to be smaller than usual.
