Very weird graphics after update
« on: February 25, 2006, 09:11:55 pm »
I downloaded the new client through BitTorrent yesterday and before installing I removed the old .312 client from my system. After installing the new client and a reboot I tried to login and play.

I have not seen anyone else with this problem, so shoot me in the foot if there is a thread about this already. I didn\'t see one.

Anyway, a picture says more than a thousand words so I post some screenshots:

Character selection screen. The only thing I can see is the characters hair.

My main character:

Some random dude I created:

The haircolor differs from the two characters, and that is all I can see.

Some in game screenshots. This is in the Death Realm if that matters. I have no way of finding my way out of there, so I have no idea if the problem is just in that zone. I believe it is like this everywhere.

Since no one else have reported this I reckon there is a problem on my computer. My specs:

AMD Thorougbred 2200+
ATI Radeon 9600 PRO 256MB with the drivers from DNA-drivers.
1024MB RAM

Two HDD\'s and so on..

Any idea of what to do? :D

Seems an issue with drivers - can you run the latest ones from ATI?
Judge: Are you trying to show contempt for this court, Mr Smith?
Smith: No, My Lord. I am attempting to conceal it.

For some reason I can not access the Catalyst Control Center after installing the latest official drivers.

Anyway, I found an option in my current driver options to change the OpenGL-mode and that did work.

This a now a non-issue! Yay!  :D

Please post here what did you change in the driver options. There might be more people with the same problem in the future and we don\'t want them to make a new thread and then look for a solution. Thanks :)

Oh, of course. I did not think of that while dancing in problem-solving-joy.

With these DNA-drivers installed (DNA-ATi 4.4.5.10a-32&64x) I had to change the OpenGL mode to \"Normal\". The mode tweaked for Counter-strike does not work with Planeshift.

This is probably a very driver specific problem.

Screenshots of the procedure of changing OpenGL mode:
