Planshift under VPC
« on: February 26, 2006, 02:51:02 pm »
Hi,
I was just wondering  if anyone has experimented with the Windows version of Planeshift under VPC. If anyone has done it successfully without serious lag could you please post your experiences.

I haven\'t installed VPC on my Mac since i updated to Tiger, so i\'m curious to know if it will run under my 1.8 Ghz SP G5 with 1.25 GB RAM and 64 MB Video card.

i think it\'s version 7 that i have

Thanks

Hmmm, I cant even start the new client under VPC.

Anyway dont expect to run PS in vpc without lags....

VPC detect the grahpic card as a ATI rage Pro with 16mb :-(
But one tip is to run vpc with a virtual network.

I don\'t see why you\'d want to. You\'ll have a Mac client within a few days. ;)

It\'s definitely great news. Thanks for the good work to both you Chaos and Dfryer.

\\o/ yay! for open source free devs. That\'s great news. I\'m more interested to know if VPC can run planeshift as opposed to how well it runs, so i know whether i should just be patient or if i should check out the VPC planshift to check out if it is any more or less reliable than the mac release. As named has already said Planeshift doesn\'t run easily under VPC so i guess i don\'t have anything to be interested in anymore.

oh and thanks for all the good work dev team.

Well, it\'s not out yet, but we\'re getting there. Dfryer will hopefully be able to provide some more detail in this area...

Planeshift under virtual PC would probably not even load, and if it did, would quickly grind to a halt.  I\'m not sure how OpenGL support under VPC works, or whether it provides access to the underlying 3D hardware acceleration.
