Ring of Familiar Doesn't work!

I just got the ring from the ring of familiar quest.  When I put it on, it says I already have a pet, take care of it.  When I try to summon, it says I don\'t have a familiar.  And when I try to dismiss it, it says it\'s already in the neatherworld.  When I try to name it, the system gives no reponse.

Also, according to DaveG, the ID number of my pet is -572662307, which is a junk number.  I\'ve repeated the quest, no luck.  Help!

Seems some sort of DB issue. A character of mine was able to receive the quest, finish it, and summon and dismiss a pet repeatedly, while Drey couldn\'t do the summoning at all.

It\'s just borked in a new and interesting way.  Nothing we can do about it, right now.  Needs more investigating.

A screen shot isn\'t very helpful.  I can write the responses to my command verbatum if you want.  I\'ve already explained this stuff to DaveG though, and he told me to post here.
