Hello
I was playing planeshift for few minutes when I had an issue :
with the number : 0041AC3B. There is a solution( \"Solution:
Fixed in CVS\" ) .
 but I don\'y understand it ( I\'m french ). What is CVS ?
Can you help me ?

Hello,

CVS mean Concurrent Versions System. It is used by PS developers for sharing the code and working on it.
Since PS is an Open Source game you can see its source code and download it even.

The problem of that exception is fixed in the code that is available to be download, but it hasn\'t yet been released in a new client.

Check the stickied Crashes and Diagnostic Files thread :) There is no solution you can provide, but the issue is fixed and won\'t appear after the next update or server rebuild. In the meantime, your character has been moved to another location. Try logging in again.

And please, read it carefully. Do not send me .dmp files that have been already analyzed and I should add preferibly, to answer to my emails and update the game and your graphic card drivers before sending me anything ;)

So I Have just to update the game ? But the issue is already here after the update. Is the problem coming from my computer or from the server of the game ?
You say the code is available to be download but where can I download it ?

The code is free to download, but then you\'ve to compile the code... all and all, not a two step friendly process, that can be kind of tricky, so currently I guess you\'ll have to wait, just as the majority of average users.

What should be done, in my opinion?
Since those fixes are there already, and affect greatly to the game stability (aka memory leaks, or problems when loading maps when being inside a building) should be made publicly avaiable as soon as possible via a normal update process.
Since those fixes don\'t carry a net bump version, no new release is done (thus no \"need\" to add new features) and can be just simply considered a bugfix release, normal in every application in its beta stage.

Besides of allowing more users to play the game, since I do hope more people will be able to run the game smoothly once the problems with sound are solved (or when it could be turned \"off\") also do it for the Game Master\'s sake, their work isn\'t teleport each and every person that got \"trapped\" inside a building till the new release is avaiable.

So Earenval, to sum up. Update is there, but not yet \"commonly\" avaiable, expect it to be broadcasted using the updater process in a relative short time (or that I hope ;) )

Am I correct that you are crashing right now and can\'t start the game?

If yes, then you need to give here your character\'s name so a GM could move it to a safe location. After that you can login into the game again without crashing.

My character\'s name isn\'t very hard because it\'s my pseudo :

Unfortunately, our update process is not perfect.  A few things are getting tweaked here and there, but yes, I\'d like to push an update through quite soon.  Not sure when it\'ll be.  Just give us a bit.

Restored one more time. I\'ve found that if you keep trying to log in several times, it may eventually give in, evidently.

It is a timing issue -- server sends out a specific message for the character with a sector name which is not loaded yet. Next time the message may come later or the sector might be loaded faster and the game won\'t crash.

If there are no GMs around to move the character, you can always try connecting again and again. It is highly possible that one of the attempts will succeed and you can move to a safe location without a help from GMs.
