Problems on Character Creation.
« on: March 07, 2006, 04:20:55 am »
Ok, I\'m a newbie, I\'m just discovering the game, but... I couldn\'e even *discover* it, because I couldn\'t even create a character and play...
This is the detail problem.
I downloaded the client.  I ran the updater.  I launched the client.  A very nice screen with an old man, an elf, a kaajita and a mummie appears.  Then comes the connection screen, where I put my email and pass.  Immediately, I go to the screen of characters, where I chose \"new character\".  I\'m moved to another screen, where I must chose the race and the name.  I click on next.  This is the first dissapointment.  It lasts a lot.  Well, sometimes it even crash to desktop, but I try several times.  So I\'m moved to the screen of birthday and so.  No problems there.  The most conflictly screen is that one about parents.  I can chose their names, but.... ?Where the h*** are the lists of professions and the list of religion?  They haven\'t appear on my screen, so everytime I click on Next, the same stupid windows: \"Chose you parents work\"  Oh my god, this is disgusting!  I want to be an orphan!
Any help on this?  As you can see, the trouble is in the lists button.  Just because onetime I could pass the parents screen but I got stucked while the server was \"validating\"... yes, imagine my happyness there...

My stats.

System: W2k SP4
Processor: PIII 800mhz
Memory: 256 mg
Disk Space: A lot
Connection: Cable at 128 kps

Thanks on advance.

Have you updated your graphics card driivers? Also, \"Disk Space: A lot\" is not a good stat xD If you don\'t know, don\'t write anything. Or better yet, go find out. Try to help us by being technical. You didn\'t specify what sort of graphics card you have at all, and if you have something onboard and integrated, that could mean trouble.
Judge: Are you trying to show contempt for this court, Mr Smith?
Smith: No, My Lord. I am attempting to conceal it.

Oh so sorry, I forgot about it!

Graph Card: Nvidia GFORCE 4 4400 MX on PCI slot
I have one VIATech on-board Graph Card but it\'s disalowed from the BIOS Setup.

Well, about disk space... I should count the free space on the partition I installed the PS Client, I think... well, let\'s say it\'s about 20gb aprox.

Well, I found it, without going to finding it out.  So I would appreciatte you being technichal on what trouble is there on the lists buttons on character creation set.

Again, Thank You Very Much on Advance.

As I said, try updating your graphics card driver :) Head over to nvidia.com and download the latest one - this may fix a lot of issues. If you already have the latest one, we\'ll think of something else to try.

You need to make a selection.  Yes, I guess you should be able to pick \"orphan\" or something, but this doesn\'t really affect much.  It\'s just a creative way to come up with some starting stats/skills.  Any past you wish to attribute to your character can be of your own design.

O so beautiful, my friend!  But I can\'t even choose anything!
The only thing I can choose on that menu \"Parents\" is the name of those, or click on the random option.  Then, when I have to choose their works, there are only empty spaces on the lists boxes... and so on the religion one... so I click on Next, and... ta-tata-tan: \"You have to select your parents works\"...
Which works if I do not have anything on lists!!!!
I\'m downloading lasts Nvidia drivers.................. Hope they were the guilty ones  :-K

If you really don\'t care about selecting those parameters you\'d also try the \"paths\" way that I think it\'s fixed by now, and should allow you to create a new char in almost no time.
Are there any MoonSeekers left?
