Stuck forever??
« on: March 11, 2006, 07:10:51 pm »
well, I was looking for new places in hydla, and I discovered a new entrance witch I managed to check it out, the entrance is quite wide but not much tall, I went trough the road and I finnaly I found a loading zone, during the loading it showed a building made of wood and that phrase, or tip, or something like that, witch normaly appear, talks always about Guilds and stuff, but in the middle of the load it showed the same error as it normaly shows when I try to go to the sewers, and  now when I start the game it always loads that section and does the same error everytime.....So what can I do now? ask to the server for a thing like an \"unstick\", or is there another solution???

sorry for the english, i\'m Portuguese =).....and i\'m using a PC if someone need that information...

Posting your character name will help the GMs when they need to move you :) Even if it is exactly the same as your forum name, make it easier and mention that. Character \"Orfi\" for example doesn\'t exist, so there is nothing we can do for you until you provide more information.

If that \"some place\" was a hole in the ground, that means you didn\'t run the updater.

Crashed -after- you ran the updater, still? :x

Character Mentak moved. You shouldn\'t be getting \"sector cannot be loaded\" errors, because that means your zoneinfo.xml is still off and the updater fixes it. If you get the infamous 0041AC3B access violation however, getting a GM is the only fix for the moment, aye.

Aye aye Captain :3. I\'ll stay out of there next time :o,
I was doing a quest and was searching for the library. You better not have moved me to the DR :oP.

Btw, I never see you ingame.

No DR :P Harnquist will have you as his next visitor.

I\'m in-game at sporadic times, usually this late around my parts - at least with my regular character. As a GM I\'m in-game every now and then to check how things are going.

I  run updater, click on update buton.
It writes :
Checking registry version
Couldn`t connect mirror mir3!
Trying mirror mir1 ...

Then updater closes window without downloading anything.

My character name: Jirica Heeniro

Someone will come around to this thread to suggest something about the updater.

In the meantime, character Jirica moved :)

Seems then that http://psmirror.pfdev.net/psupdater/version.dat is a file that either is corrupted or your updater doesn\'t expect.

First thing to do:

Ensure that the updater version is 1.1.0.0 since this is the latest version of it (and you haven\'t explained if that\'s the one you\'re using) if it\'s not:
http://www.psmirror.org/psupdater/updater1100.zip

download that file and uncompress it on your planeshift folder, then run updater again, it should be 1.1.0.0 this time.

If you already had 1.1.0.0:

Ok, let\'s play a bit :P
Go to your planeshift directory and search for a file named updaterconfig.xml, copy it and save the copy to a folder of your choice (this is to restore the original file if things don\'t go as planned)
That done, go to your planeshift folder and edit the file updaterconfig.xml with a text editor ( \"open with...\" -> WordPad for instance) I\'ll tell you what we\'ll try. Normally mirror3 is the one that almost never fails. Let\'s hope it also has the files you need to solve your issue. So there we go, you\'d find this lines:

-

Modify them so they look like:
-

then save changes. That should force the updater to use the psmirror only, since it\'s the only one that has listed. Hopefully it will find what is needed there, at least http://www.psmirror.org/psupdater/version.dat the mirror as you see has the version.dat file that seems to be causing problems to you, so I guess it\'s worth trying.

If something goes wrong, you can always restore the file you previously saved.

Good luck with it.
