Idea about time

I just wonder how you are supposed to look at a pond and get what time it is. I know they get it from the lake, but then its a much larger scale. I don\'t know about any of you, but I\'m very poor at judging vater hights on a computer screen. But I like the pond Idea, but how about something easier to get in addition to the pond, like the water changing color or something like that. (haven\'t really thought this through) Something that indicates the water level better then lines followed by a little text somewhere inside the pond.

It\'s really not that hard. There would be like a pole, or some other marker in the middle, or side of the pond. You go up to it and press enter, or whatever and the time comes up on your screen.
