Put something "here" (slight spoiler)
« on: March 13, 2006, 08:07:23 pm »
This does include a slight spoiler.

In the Oja hills, there are a lot of new rogues.  One particular bunch are in a light, until you get to two standing side by side as if talking to eachother or gaurding a pass.  After them, you discover it\'s a dead end.

So I was going through there, thinking - wow, that was an interesting build up... but there\'s nothing here!

So I\'m thinking, why not add something there that the rogues could be protecting?  Either a NPC who got lost and is too scared of the rogues to find his or her way out, or a tree which spawns apples (rogues get hungry too you know), or a mushroom patch, or another place to mine coal, or an old shack which is falling apart.  It\'s just too good a setup to keep that spot empty.

I would very much like to see a tree that spawns RED apples...my taste buds have become insensitive to green apples, just way too many of them.  Maybe plums or a watermelon bush! (or a chest with a meteor glyph in it)

you have a point zanzibar...it just kinda leaves you hangin

There are two types of people in this world: The Pinky and the Brain.
Which one are you?

Perhaps the rouge\'s secret base? Seems logical right? could be the first \"event quest\", destroy the head rouge and all the rouges will disappear for everyone! (I.E. quest completion effects everyone).

Something like that wouldn\'t make sense until collision detection is working for NPC models... otherwise you could just walk through all the rogues to the head one.  There needs to be something that makes you need to kill all the rogues leading up to the \"goal\".

Why would only one person get to do the quest?

Only one person could complete it yes. less of a quest more of a event. it will be very hard to complete, and the one very powerful player who does it would become famous or something.

Oh, now I understand.

That would work if new spawn points were made in Hydlaa, or just outside the gates, and that it was posing a threat to the characters.  In that case, it would just be the \"new\" rogues that would disapear.

This could be done for different races as well.  Bandits, Gobbles show intelligence from time to time, rogue wizards, whatever.

indeed.. maybe it could be a repeatable quest, but slightly different every time.

For example, one person does the quest. then it gives them a bunch of xp. But the rogues are moved to another place, but its the same basic quest. and maybe each player can only do it once or something.. so its fairly new to each player..

Well, no... with an RP event like that, it should take an army of players acting together to solve it.

Maybe the one finishing the quest could be the lord of the rougues or something. He could start an evil rogue guild with lots of NPC\'s under him.

I haven\'t played this game for too long, but i think it would be more fun if there was some evil guild who had some power. Enough to inflict the game in some ways. You could maybe create a rogue city or something in the cave. With shops and stuff. And after that the person who finished the quest first have to defend his throne. Other people could try to kill him or maybe get a magic object wich makes him loose his power or something.

The rogue leader could get other people to join under him, who helps him defend the throne.

Just a thought:)

Well, hiring NPCs to form an army is an interesting idea... anyone know anything about this in terms of Planeshift?

There have been a few.  They tend to stay in the background of things.

Well, we (TDC and other players) have fought an army of rogues ones. We had to defend Akkaio from a number of rogues (Tarel killed the prince :)) )...
