New Forum: Fantasty Fantasy writings
« on: March 15, 2006, 12:44:23 pm »
Right now, there is a forum for stories which are \"real\" within the fantasy world of Planeshift, perhaps even based on in-game events.

I think that there should be a forum for stories which are fictional within the fantasy world of Planeshift.  It wouldn\'t be RP writing, it would be story writing -- a body of stories making up the fictional literature, childrens stories, lore, legends, etc that the characters in the Planeshift universe would be exposed to.

Stories which are particularly popular could be included in game, if the legalities were sorted out.

I hope that makes sense.  I\'m a bit tired.:)

That could go very well into the Roleplay (Community Storywriting) section, as ultimately these are going to be written with an in-character mindframe. It happened before and has been working quite nicely. No need for more forum sections, I think.

You misunderstood...

I mean by being added in game, they\'re turned into a book which can be read by characters.  The books might turn up in libraries, or as loot, or are sold by vendors, etc.

The Community Storywriting section is exclusively for events which \"really\" happen within the Planeshift Universe.  I mean fantasy writing within the fantasy world of Planeshift; things which have no basis in RP events or in-game actions, but that characters would be aware of.

Not necessarily. \"Fantasy\" books written by IC members fit in very well, as they have in the past. The In-Game RP board is for things that happened in-game, but the Communitive Storywriting is for everything else - after all, we\'ve had recipe books posted, songs and poetry, etc. It\'s fine there.

I think it is a great idea. To walk into the DR library and look up information on a character and read their life story or diary or poetry would make Yliakum much more realistic. Plus it would be rewarding to have your story in the game.
