We are doing a final dev release tomorrow, in order to test the auto-updater and make sure all our bug fixes from the first two dev releases are actually \"fixed\".

Once that final testing has been done, we should release it to the public.  I can hardly wait for everyone to see it. :-)

He didn\'t say that, he said after testing they will release, what if they find bugs in test? More waiting.

Auto Updater
« Reply #124 on: February 17, 2003, 07:41:40 pm »
If there is an auto updater then coulden\'t it be released as is, unless there is some \"format C:\" or \"rm -fr /\" command run every time you try to open a door. Any future bug fixes should just be patched once ever 2 days or so(real bad ones can be patched in an hour if fixed), if people dont like that many bugs then they should come back in 6 months.

anyhow good to hear it comming along, good work on the screenshots :-)

Well, we have no hard release dates. It\'s more of a general consensus among the team that a new version is ready.  We are hopefully going to have the third inhouse release ready  today or tomorrow and after some testing with that the next release should be the public one.

This is a free project, which means no one gets paid to work on this, which means we don\'t eat if we don\'t have jobs, which means we have jobs, which means you are NEVER going to get one hour response time on a problem.

I hear the guys over at Microsoft get paid to do this... maybe you can get them to fix THEIR bugs in an hour instead, right?

:-)

U mean Windows aren\'t made by a thousand monkeys working on a thousand typewriters, sure could have fooled me  ;)

On a serious note, we all respect all that u guys do, and most of us are willing to wait as long as it takes. It\'s just a couple of ungratefull(mostly ppl with 2 posts) that think they have a right to demand something or complain.
I\'m currently going to school for comp. science so I know more or less what u guys have to go through to get everything working the way it\'s supposed to, and to do it for free :) u guys are my heros :)

P.S.
the day no bugs are found in windows is the day it\'s no longer made by microsoft ;)

A healthy amount of smileys, Creathor.  Venge, I can wait quite a while, because, at the moment, I have a computer with 64MB ram and (I think) an 8MB video card.  I\'m not going to be playing the game anytime soon.

We released the .003 release to the dev team today and immediately found about 6 more bugs to work out, mostly related to camera positions and lighting changes.  Also some of the characters cannot fit through some of the doors, so we need to figure that part out as well. :-)

Once we fix those, and some memory management issues, .004 release should be for you guys I think.

devs getting to fat?
cant blame them though sitting in a chair infront of a computer will do that to you...... BTW we\'ll love you all for about 1-2 days and then start asking about the next release :D
