Laanx Temple Well (not about dying)
« on: March 18, 2006, 10:03:18 am »
Okay, did a search, and couldn\'t find this particular problem, so i\'ll post it assuming it\'s a bug not mentioned before.

Walked into the Laanx well from the Right-hand stair steps.  Fell in, and the game went to a load screen as per normal.

Now, as far as I know, I was still alive...however a window was obscuring my position and I don\'t think I could move.

This window said something to the effect of

\"This is a server message that you are not normally supposed to see\"

It had an OK button which I clicked.  And I was thusly kicked out to the desktop with no error messages or anything.

Going to re-start the game now, and see if anything wierd happens.

edit:
Game loaded normally and I was on the ledge, no problems.  However I mistimed my next jump and flew off into the bottom *lol* I\'ll be waking up in the DR i guess *smirk*  So I guess it\'s just a minor bug.

That means you were disconnected - usually due to a weird wireless connection or something :)
Judge: Are you trying to show contempt for this court, Mr Smith?
Smith: No, My Lord. I am attempting to conceal it.

Ah thanks. Wierd though hehe, i\'m on good  old cable modem ^_^  cat-5 FTW!  So I guess it wasn\'t a bug then really...just a screwup on lag or packetloss. Was just playing it safe *grin*

It isn\'t easy, to survive after jump in to the well. Try this, run then jump in to the wel, If you see you are stuck don\'t move just /unstick and try again.

I didn\'t have a problem getting onto the cliff ;)  The first time, after the cliff, I mis-aimed my jump, and fell to the bottom, so I went back and tried again.

Actually the only problem I had was the last jump from the broken bridge  after the rope to the \"not-so-broken\" wooden bridge that connects to the main ledge. I made the jump okay, but it wiped out my puny 67 HP lol.  I didn\'t see any other spots to jump to though.  I\'ll give it another look sometime, or just take the back entrance if that\'s still possible :P  Don\'t worry \'bout me ;)

I used to have a lot of trouble getting into the dungeon (died every time I jumped down the well), but then a guildmember pointed out the following technique which has worked for me ever since. YMMV:

Use the right side of the well.
Stand on one of the straight edges of the rim (not a corner point, and not right by the stairs approaching the well).
Walk on in!

And once again, the same already told suggestion:

Set up the game to \"Keep maps loaded\".
__

But this is not the topic of this thread, anyway.

The topic was about a \"message you should normally not see\".

And this was related to the way the server handles logins. It is not at all related to the dungeons, specifically.

yeah, that\'s what a \"tangent\" is :P

Not everyone can keep maps loaded  (memory usage), so I was pleasantly surprised to find this info recently.
