As far as i know, she uses screenshots only, so it is unlikely she will draw a female Ylian....
except perhaps she does a photomontage using a recolored female diaboli body, mixed with a female dwarf head and perhaps some other models' parts. But i somehow doubt that.

;) [OOC] Actually in RL I am quite the artist. I probably could draw a female Yilan very easy. VMann to draw a female Ylian all I would need is a sketch book and a pencil, then I could just scan it into my computer.  Problem is .... that is not what I offer only because I really don't have the time to do it. I would love to have a space of a couple of hours in my day to draw, but at this point it is just to much of a time taker.  Astraea if I do find the time, I will definitely give it a go. Till then using screenis and photoshop are what I will use as tools for the Zorbels portrait studio.

[OOC] Well from the warning I am getting as I reply ... I haven't looked at this thread for 120 days. I decided to make a post and apologize to those who had approached me in game for some portraits to be done. To these people ....

(1) Bodacher
(2) Einnol
(3) Krook (Requested by Xillix)
(4) Acissej & Illori
(5) Thormor & gatuna
(6) Lolitra
(7) Ollo

I am sorry but I just haven't had the time to work on these potraits and feel the need to let you all know that I didn't forget. It was never my intention to not finish, as a matter of fact I have a million screeni's divided into different folders with all of your names on it. I have some paintings even started. Unfortantly a full time job, Family, Gming, Role-playing and other activities/duties I just don't have the time to make them go. I did have the time however when I started this project. I am not closing the doors to Zorbels portrait studio but I have decided to put the project aside for now. The moment I finish a portrait when i have free time, I will post it. I have everyone listed in the order the requests came, so Bodachers will be posted first. Thanks for all of your support with this idea of mine. Some day I will honor your support with a portrait.

*sighs*

And as I saw this thread popup again I was thinking "Yes I do want a portrait. How to catch Zorbels" ;)

Sorry to hear you don't have that much free time, but that is the trouble with GMing I suppose ;)

*hugs*

Doing a great job BTW

:woot: Nice work Zorbels! Have you tried capturing Yliakum's landscapes? I'm sure Jomed can provide some fruit and wine for a nice still life with which you can study light and shapes. Just some ideas. Keep up the good work.

I wonder where could I ask for hand drawn portraits for my two female (Dermorian and Xacha) characters...
A pity you cannot do them Zorbels(And my drawing skills are really bad)
Good luck with your new PS business!

Not to be critical, I promise, but I work with Photoshop daily (i'm a pro web designer) and I promise you could make your steps easier.
But um, what version of Photoshop do you use? CS 2.3?

Quote
(1) I used the magic wand tool and a delete button to earse the back grounds on some of the photo's
The magic wand is fine, but to erase the back ground with that you'll have to use a threshold of 20-30, this is fine and removes the background but also some of the outside of your main content. A better system for this is to use the pen tool and draw a custom shape to the exact area you want, right click, then click 'make selection' and key it out appropriately.  The result looks much sharper when dealing with high res images (screenshot size).
Quote
(3) I used the smudge tool to make it so that the edges faded on some of the paintings
Smudge is fine, you could also do a diffuse glow as well as box blur inverted (be sure to highlight the opposite, select inverse, and contract as necesary)

Quote
(4) I used the cloaning tool to fill in and in some cases create whole new body parts.
Cool, but be sure to add dynamic lighting as necessary, a burn is appropriate, and never use an inner shadow, no matter how well it looks, it will always feel boxy to the user.

(5) I used an overlay to change some colors in the screenshot to make certain places darker or lighter or just to change the color peroid and not the texture. (Woo hoo for me I am learning alot for those of you who care Tongue )
You could simply add a new layer with blending style hue or color and draw over (control click the layer below to keep a safety bounding box, to not bleed everywhere).
Quote
(6) It takes time and skill to also be good at getting shots from the game to do all of this with.
True, in 3d games it's fun to try different angles too, I know you do portraits, but get some cool side shots too, use the 3d engine to your advantage.

*edit*

See with the pen tool http://img441.imageshack.us/my.php?image=gobbelsketch2zaod5.gif you can add the focus to the character, and as you see here blur out the background.

Good luck in your ventures

I use Photoshop CS2 now, but when I did this work I have posted I was using Photoshop CS. I would also like to thank you for taking the time to write this post and help me with some faults that you might be able to see. This is exactly what I asked for when I started this thread, believe me criticism is welcome. Some of what you have suggested I have already figured out, but others hadn't even occured to me. I appreciate your help and will try to apply your suggestions in the work I do in the future.

Zorbels hears the front door to the portrait studio open and shouts out to the unknown stranger entering "COMING!" She hurries around the corner towards the front door forgetting about her paint covered fur and how silly she looks. "Hi there! Izzabella is it? I believe we have met once before. I am proud to say the portrait studio is open once again. How can I help you?"
