Idea of a new Trade System
« on: January 06, 2003, 03:08:59 am »
Hi Folks, lately a new idea came to my mind:

Think about the following situation:

The american User Frank wants to sell his Weapon \"Forceblade\".. so normally he would just wait until someone cries \"HEYYYYY ANYBODY IS SELLING ME A FORCEBLADE ... PAYING ANY PRICE\"

With my system User Frank would do the following:

He clicks on \"Trade System\" \"Place Offer\" \"SELL\" \"Weapon - Forceblade\" \"PRIZE 90$\"

His Offer will appear on the trade list:

SELLER LIST:

Forceblade - 90$ - Frank

Let?s further assume that the german user Karl want?s to buy a Forceblade

Since Karl uses a Client translated in his language it?s easy for him to click:

\"TRADE LIST\" \"SEARCH\" \"Forceblade\" \"Maximum Price to Pay: 100$\"

Frank?s offer will appear on Karl?s search Query .. Karl doubleclicks it ...... Frank gets a message \"User Karl has payed interest in your offer number #23 double click to make a deal\" ... Frank double clicks .. both side accept the price of 90$ the deal is made.

This for sure will also work vice versa .. User Karl places an Search Offer onto the list \"SEARCH\" \"Forceblade\" \"Maximum Price $100\" as soon as someone places an matching offer Karl will get noticed \"Found a Query that matches your search string about FORCEBLADE\"

User Karl or Frank can also just check the SELL OFFERS and Search Requests and scrool through the list.

Hope you could follow me ... what do you think of that idea?

I believe we will have something like this.  It is called the Bazaar in EQ.

I like the idea, but it need some modification, the people owning shops must not lose money on this. But the idea is very nice. The trade system will help people, but its an easy offer for spammers and ther followers. I could post my rock for sale 10000 times which of course would ruin the whole idea. I got no real sugestions however, they might come along later.

Hrm what if it would cost you money to list your items on the \"Trade Market\" depending on the price you want to sell it and how long it should appear on the list ?

Each City could have such a trade market ..

This way players could also build an intern \"black market\" and make special prices for Guild members and so on ..

Very good, very good indeed. I like it. If it cost money to place your objects on this trade thingy, only items worth more then most things will be added. Which is great. There should be an office in every city, or the basement of a bar (!) or something like that, where people could list their items for a little fee. This would add a lot to the trading between players. Great.

I liked thee bartering system in Fallout. It was basic enough. The only problem is it took forever to scroll the right amount of bottle caps (money. Don\'t ask) to match the worth of things.

Hmm what if we merged Culsaron\'s idea with this and allowed player shop owners to sell items for other people on consignment?  The player could negotiate a minimum price he would sell an item for, and the merchant could agree on a % commission with him and the merchant could handle it for him.

This might be cool since humans are more flexible than a msg board in negotiations and it would give merchants something else to do.
