Well how is life in the world of PlaneShift
« on: April 05, 2006, 01:16:33 pm »
Goodday people,

How is the world of planeshift doing a year after my leave ( i took note of the people saying: \"ZOMG, CUM BAK AFTER WUN YEAR\".

After having my decrypter run on the sentence, it came up with something like come back dude we miss you but don\'t come back now...

Offcourse being gone for a longer period of time, causes you to fail to see what has happened over the last couple of months, so a small update would be very appreciated.

The main things that i know:

Moogle left, More females playing the came then ever, i have a job ^^ aaaaand well thats it, so who is willing to update me on what in Talad\'s name is going on here, so i can start talking on what is, was, and will be.

Hail me.

Hard to tell exactly...

A lot has changed in the environment (grass grew, chimneys smoke, and for a while we had even apples growing).

A lot has changed in the population (long known important people left, new people made themselves important - even more people rummage in the arena and the hills).

And a lot has changed in the population structure, but not everything (one claimed but retreated Octarch, a council of guilds and other people with similar interests, lots of new guilds and a few less - namely a recreated Felines Lair without Ayshe).

If you may or may not like what you will face now... might depend on the people you meet at first. But don\'t give up too quickly if you took a wrong turn... We will enjoy everyone who still cares about this land.

You stopped playing at around the time I joined.  In that time...

- the death realm has expanded
- there are more weapons and countless variations on them
- daggers are in the game
- people now deal over 200 damage max instead of only around 55-80 max
- a lot of bugs are gone
- there\'s a \"keep maps loaded\" option
- Laanx makes an occasional experience (if you meet her face to face, I advise you to be extremely respectful!)
- the quests are working and there are a couple dozen of them
- Hydlaa has been expanded
- there are a bunch of new glyphs which you get through quests or friends
- the GM team has been improved
- GM\'s will run events from time to time
- Guild require at least 5 members and a starting fee
- Certain weapons are enchanted and give bonuses to character stats
- there are mushrooms
- there is a /me command and a /my command (/me yawns results in \"Zanzibar yawns\", /my eyes look tired results in \"Zanzibar\'s eyes look tired.\"
- invite spamming (including trades and challenges) are punished automatically by the server
- the arena is the new place that people camp instead of the tefusand valley

I\'ll probably think of more later.  I have more of a \"PLer\" perspective on things, others can probably tell you things which are more useful.

Wibble is old! :D At least as old as MB.
Judge: Are you trying to show contempt for this court, Mr Smith?
Smith: No, My Lord. I am attempting to conceal it.

okay, lots of game improvements, but i was talking more community wise, i left because the community changed to much in a short time ( and by the looks of it, it still does ).

A game like this needs a big group of steady people, now here i am cutting my own head by leaving, but it also shows that i still am wondered by this community, and the game ( which became what it is today because of it\'s great community ).

And yes i remember the radio station very well, it\'s still running, but nobody is actually streaming, most because none of us can get the program running again.

The site still exists and maybe if i can get the license back and the bandwith on my server spared, i will think about relounching it, thanks to my new job i found several good ways on how to do the conversations and i have enough cash to buy better hardware to do so :)

btw what happened to the dice rolling that was so popular in MB, is it still alive...

Ohw well, i\'ll probably put my Incensio Tenebrae guild image up soon enough, concidering im still a member and i\'m still playing other games under it\'s name.

If there are other changes, please let me know, i have to know who the new popular kids in the forum are, so i can smash m and do dreadfull evil things to them.

Yes i will keep the anti flaming and anti killing and the god rp-ing in tome to make sure my deleted post count will stay as low as can be, but you can\'t blame an evil RP Character for showing it\'s true nature once in a while.

*Now where did i leave my book on how to destroy Laanx, damn dusty place in here...

I should never have left this dump behind for the sunny beaches, no i have to hire a damn cleaner*

Dice rolling is dead.  Seperot is about the only person who actively advocates it.  Really, there is simply no reason for it in combat, and it even works against the mechanics and ballance issues that the devs have worked so hard on solving.  For other things, people tend to ignore them.

If you want to throw someone out of the tavern, you might do rolls and then use your strength stat as a modifier.  But people just don\'t do it, I don\'t see it happening.

If you want someone to go on a date with you in game, you might do a roll and use charisma as a modifier.  But people don\'t do it, and I don\'t see it happening.

Who knows.  Maybe things will change.  Personally, I don\'t like it because it isn\'t transparent... it feels disruptive.

w00t heya dorb!

good to see others from the early eras returning, things are progressing at PS\'s pace. Though my only complaint is that PS\'s is becoming more a \'video\' game, where as I never thought of it as such before, rather it was a hobby all its own.

my how times have changed.....

Well, I am not religious enough to believe in the inevitable fate...  :P

I prefer to listen to the emotions I get from a player when I talk or watch one (or even read character descriptions), to decide if there is a possible \"partner\" in front of me. I don\'t like rolling dice to decide if I want to date someone.

Editing the character description, using emotive expressions (/me, /my), offering \"rare\" gifts (like pies) ... that all is just much more natural than asking the fortune. And indeed, there have been very few situations when I really could not decide what to do. Then an OOC note, or a tell, is just closer.

But the dice are not yet dead! Recently I joined a nice gambling game, similar to \"17+4\", and another like \"Roulette\". People are creative. Maybe in a different way than before, when such things were more usual, or even necessary (e.g. without PvP duels, I can imagine that dices were a good way to find the more powerful between two people; oh, that must have been a peaceful life...).

It\'s nothing big, but in MB it was  out the only thing i did ;) so i was wondering :P

Does anybody have any idea what happened to the cabal, the strange guys that run around naked and scream:\" I\'m god fear me\".

I still haven\'t downloaded the new client yet :O
Currently very busy with the guildwars part of incensio tenebrae which is getting more popular by the day :D it does take almost all my free time thou which is becoming somewhat of a bother.

I still don\'t know anything about the mayor community changes :(

And Druke, PS is a video game :P you can\'t really do this pen and paper based although it was more like that during MB

First thing is hello Dorbian, welcome back.

Second, of course, I\'m god fear me!!!

I was the only one who claimed to be god though, and Savion and Saty were the naked runners :P

Yeah we cabali disbanded a while ago...public opinion is that it is all Xordan\'s fault :D

Dice rolling is just as annoying as it was in MB though :D

Major Community changes: Everything except the DE and the EG is gone... or so it seems.

Guildwars is bloody addictive though, how many of the IT are playing it, I may join you if I can.

errr aldar, daecery, me and possibly faldie, the others are doing other things.

we have other non IT members in the IT guild and they are pretty active.

Now why is it Xordans fault, did he stop running arond naked ? (the horror)
