The Butterfly Effect
« on: April 05, 2006, 09:12:16 pm »
At first I thought this would be some boring family video, but it turned out to be the best movie I\'ve ever seen. If anyone wants a summary, I\'ll dig one out, but has anyone else seen it? =P It\'s a movie with a good plot, without any cheesy special effects like people hanging from wires or whatever.

The name should have been Chaos Theory, seeing as that is what it was based on. But the name is based on the Chaos Theory anyways.

Anyways, i have said for a while that it is my favorite movie. Excellent cast, excellent plot, and just enough emotion to bring it all together.

I only rented it, but I thought it was \"Something as small as the flutter of a butterfly\'s wing can cause a whirlwind across the world\"

I've been outside, it's overrated and the graphics suck!

I liked it but thought that was one screwed plot for the main character. I\'m glad it ended the way it did. Seems theres a moral there somewhere.

Hmm, I have heard of that film, goot things only, but never seen it myself.

The famous Chaos Theory, the slightest manipulation in the start settings can cause enourmous changes in the end. The butterfly effect is a nice picture used to imaginate the principle of chaos theory, however, even smaller differences might cause even more tremendous events.

The slightest difference in angle might totally change the picture of a camera that projects it\'s picture onto a monitor which itself targets, suddenly a short ray of light becomes infinite.

I watched it a second time (both the director\'s cut and theatrical addition) and it was much easier to follow. When he blacks out in his childhood, those times are when his self in the future goes back to try and change everything, but what he experienced is just his adult form trying to see what he didn\'t know happened when he blacked out. The major changes came later on. I especially liked how much each thing changed. Katie went from his girlfriend to some hooker, and Lenny went from a paranoied kid to Katie\'s girlfriend.
