Help: Updater Crash
« on: April 06, 2006, 01:06:11 am »
I downloaded Planeshift w/ Bitorrent from the links provided.
Ensured that i had the newest updater, as well, all of my WinXP updates are current.Drivers, windows updates and my system is virus/spyware free... heh, well as far as i can tell.

After installation the Updater launches... or at least tries too.
I recieve this error.

\"updater has encoutered a problem and needs to close.\"
\"We are sorry for the inconvenience.\"

In the error report i received this info

\"Error signature
 AppName: updater.exe  AppVer: 0.3.11.0  ModName  Updater.exe\"
\"ModVer:0.3.11.0   Offset: 0001a8a1\"

Technical info:
I have the .txt file saved on my pc. If anyone is able to take a look at it I will email them.

I hate to be a burden but I\'m completely stumped. Normally, problems like this are few and far between.

Thanks for any help.

EDIT
After a little searching, i tried replacing the 2 *.dll files veryone else was having problems with. However, this didnt solve my problem.

Updater Sticky

Give text/recover mode a shot.  Make sure you downloaded the 0.3.013 package.  Post your system specs, etc.

Edited to add:
It seems text mode is borked at the moment, so ignore that part for the time being.

900Mhz is a bit slow, but the rest of the system might be able to make up for it.  Hard to tell...

I want you to make sure the version you downloaded is 0.3.013.  It should say so in the filename of the installer.  (just checking if the 0.3.011 in the crash thingy is old)

PlaneShift_CBV0.3.013 is the filename.
Yah, this PC can actually hold it\'s own.
UT2K4 runs well.

I\'ve noticed that a couple other programs are now not installing properly.
Could it be SP2? do you know of a program that checks my XP file structure for missing/corrupt files?

Thanks for the help
