Cannot load game after sign-in
« on: April 07, 2006, 04:16:12 pm »
I downloaded the game and registered.  I get the log-in screen and enter my information.  I click ok, and then I get the message on the bottom says \"connecting to server\" then the screen goes pitch black.  It turns white and I get an error message saying \"The ATI2dvaa display driver has stopped working normally.  Save your work and reboot....\"  At that point it appears that my resolution and number of screen colors has been changed.  I can move the window that contains the game but can\'t really see anything.  I try closing it and get an \"end now?\" prompt.  I end up having to end most of the programs on my computer using end now before I can restart.

I went to the ATI website to get the latest drivers and I am set as far as that goes.  I also went to directx and got the latest directx, 9.0c.

I can\'t even get to the character creation screen.  Please, if you have any suggestions, let me know.

Thanks in advance.

I have 16MB :P

The GPU is more important than the VRAM.  Though, yes, it\'s not great.

That being said, I have no idea if that card is good enough.

You\'d be surprised.  It can be a little choppy in the plaza sometimes, but by and large it runs quite well.  The Radeon I have is a decent card, more or less, and the 2.66Ghz CPU and 1GB of RAM make up the slack.  It\'s quite playable, but it\'s a laptop, so I can\'t upgrade the graphics card.  I can run it in a 1024x768 window with other stuff running, and it works quite fine.  Regardless.... that\'s completely off-topic.  This guy doesn\'t have the same card as me, so I have no clue how it\'ll work.
