Geforce Problems
« on: April 25, 2006, 12:49:34 pm »
Operating System:  Windows XP
Processor:  AMD Athlon 1500+
Graphics Card:  Geforce fx 5500
System Memory:  1.35 Ghz
Video Memory:  (Ram?) 512

I just downloaded the game, and ran the updater.  The game loaded just fine, and after signing in I clicked create new character. This was where the problem was. The 3d models could be hardly called 3d at all. They were splotched with shadows and poorly detailed. So I knew there was a problem. I tried the solution of entering
Video.OpenGL.UseExtension.GL_ARB_texture_rectangle = false
Video.OpenGL.UseExtension.GL_NV_texture_rectangle = false , but nothing changed, and when I went back to data/config/r3dopengl.cfg, it wasn't at the bottom anymore where I pasted it.  Please help me.  Thanks.

P.S.: At the top when it was loading it said no hardware accelerator. Also, I tried another game before and it told me I didn't have opengl and closed on me. Or something. I went through character creation by clicking random and loaded the city, to find it looking as if I was playing legos. The town was hardly rendered and I was chopped up, some parts of my body not present.

Edit: When I installed my Graphics card, we had to install the drivers. But it wouldn't install. It insisted that another install wizard was running and so we needed to turn those off first. But we had nothing else open. My brother by-passed installing the drivers, and instead made it so that it read the graphics card. So we're using the graphics card without the drivers because it simply won't work....if that makes sense.

Hi,

well, to have things clear: a driver has to be running. For sure. Either way, there would be no communication between the device and the OS.
Anyway, seems that your problem is, indeed, driver related. Probably you're using the ones that came with windows.
What to do? Go to www.nvidia.com to get the drivers. In fact your card is fairly recent, and it should go fine with the newest drivers from NVIDIA
http://www.nvidia.com/object/winxp_2k_84.21.html
Save the file on your computer, this drivers have full support for OpenGL and there has to be no problem after installing them.
Reboot your system, before double-clicking the file, that way, you'll ensure that possibly nothing interferes in the process. After doing that, if you feel that something might be interfering, you can always disable your antivirus software, and then install the drivers (the autoinstaller does it all for you) you'll be prompted to restart, do so.
In the case that you've problems again with the installer, there are ways to "manually" install the driver package, but you'd really try the easiest version first.
Are there any MoonSeekers left?
