An NPC who can tell fortunes, and be used to give out tips to players would be a new approach, we know Gypsy's have been around for hundreds of years and would fit in with the theme very well.
She ( or he ) could have a crystal ball, and could be mischevious as well as helping new folk , she could also lead others astray, i am sure you could also use them for other dark mystical tasks.
