abuse

I belive the tiltle to this section is" What you would like to see in the final game? "

So here it is:
1. A way to stop the abuse being used by a few childish players.

I refer to , I belive its called D.O.S attacks.
at first i though i thought it was crashes, where the PS Game crashed to the desktop, but on close inspection of my router logs i find them to be dos attacks.

What made me look was that the crashes seemed to be during or just after another player had some sort of dispute over something in the game , be it the right to keep fighting a particular monster or npc , or not wanting to share position in the Arena.

There are not many people who are un-helpfull in the game or even nasty [ and i am not talking about ic folk :)  ] but simply people who use modern day language and being abuseive in their actions.

This type of system abuse should be one of the first to be eradicated, so the game can run more smothly, i know its hard to stop as many of the bigger online Multiplayer company's have problems with this.

Anyway this is my major concern at the moment, the rest of the problems are nothing compared to this.

Thanks for a fantastic beautiful  game, that i am sure will get the acknowledgements it deserves. \\o//

DOS attacks?  I usually crash when I'm entering the arena in the area of Dlayo and it's heavily populated, but I didn't know that it could have been the work of a griefer.

We have a thread in the Rules and Notifications section of the forum, as well as a link in my signature, about reporting abuse. Such issues should be brought to Game Masters, especially if offensive language is being used in-game. The /report command should be used in particular when this happens.

I am .. not sure how PlaneShift can be made to prevent D.O.S. attacks, if that's what they were, however.

Assuming you got a DOS attack, how would the player have accomplished that?  ???
We're not evil. We're simply amazing.

Well, to say how it was done would be very stupid " dont you think "
we need to rid the game of this problem , not encourage others to try it.

Oh and by the way, this is not a normal crash i can assure you.
It can happen anywhere in the maps, not just in the Arena, and it does !!

I can assure you that this is the first I've heard of something like this.. If you seriously feel that people are endangered and can offer more details, send a PM to, say, acraig. And give details. Details details details.

It sounds really weird right now ;)

I highly doubt you were the victim of a denial of service attack, and if you were it had nothing to do with PS.  (though, we think our server has been hit by a few at times)  I could grab your IP while you're on IRC or something and that's all that's needed for that.  Your IP address isn't obtainable by other players via PS, so I don't see how this could happen.  What in your router logs are you talking about?
