I think the key part that you missed was "not fun by itself."

This isn't a hack-and-slash game, and the message perhaps was a subtle way of letting people know about the new crafting system? By all means be a fighter, but learning how to craft your own armour or weapons makes it more enjoyable.

If you didnt like crafting then just dont use it.Nobody is forcing you to use crafting. Ignore the little message on the loading screen.But its doubtful that they will remove the message only for you. Because there could be other people who could like the new crafting  system.

Is it possible to craft advanced weapons yet ?
or are we speaking about future releases ?

by advanced I mean better weapons than what the arena monsters drop.. because if you cant make more unique weapons then whats the point of trying crafting just now ?

I tried magic and thought how cool it was that you could combine glyphs and make new spells... and yet it seems you can only combine certain glyphs and not all of them as I had hoped..

really if whatever it is your trying to do.. crafting, mining, creating spells.. etc is extremely limited then eventually you will get bored and move on to something else.

Pretty soon you will be able to craft weapons that will be of better quality than what you find as drops, and it will last longer and won't need as frequent of a repair. Do keep in mind that crafting has just been introduced.
