Meh, the quests will get less annoying in time, but why do you care about them at all?  I mean, you get a few items from them, sure...But you can usualy buy those from other characters.

It's never been called 'beta' by the developers.  Technically, it's still a 'tech demo'.

Actually I remember something about the current version being the beta version of an alpha version of Planeshift, thus Pre-Alpha

no need to hate advisors. some, are automaton, spewing "ask ingame" . they get a bit annoying, that after saying millions of phrases to the quest person, that they show no compassion. when i advise, i put feeling into it. i say " i dont know, i havent even done it" or "that quest is annoying. sorry, but i cant give advice because of the rules".

The whole thing was about relating character involvement to commercial games I believe.  Saying that it was much like an open beta in the sense that many people can try it out.  Except it is alpha...

Well the link that was autoset in the start menu used to say Open Beta and I didn't chose that title so thats what the devs called it not me

Also I don't like the idea of calling something a devteam has been working on for five years stil an alpha. Personally I feel the project has failed in that aspect if thats the best that can be done in such an amount of time.

Most projects stay in alpha for about 4 years.  They are just not announced as early as planeshift was.

IIRC Vengeance once said in IRC "some things in PS are alpha, some are beta and others are not existant" or something along the line.

It's freaking annoying those quests.

no it's pre-alpha, a game can be playertesting and still alpha. Besides it's a tech-demo which means demonstration, we are gettign something demonstrated with our own eyes (and ears if you have sound on .)

It's not a demo, since we're playtesting it and not having it simply demonstrated for us.

Like others have said advisors cant give you answers to quests but the help channel is populated by players of the game the chances are even if the player wont give you the quest solution in the help channel the same player will give you a hand as a player if asked nicely and ic.
