Ojaroad Graphics problem
« on: May 08, 2006, 02:45:33 am »
When ever I am on the oja road, the hills are dark dark dark (to the point that they are like black) and there are see-through squares. Like missing polygons or something. I can see through one hill to the other! Thanks for any help!

Have you run the game updater and made sure that your graphics card drivers are up-to-date? I remember seeing this issue on the forums in the past, but I believe either an update took care of it, or it was a graphics card issue.

I have no idea about your problem (but Karyuu's statement abut your video card drivers sounds clever to me), but I will use this post to ask something maybe answered 100 times (in this case I trust the mods to delete this post ;-)) :

Am I the only one to suffer awfull lags on ojaroad ?

I get a strange amount of lag on ojaroad as well, which never happened before our last update, I think. I was wondering if it's the foliage generator as the cause, but such lag doesn't occur in areas like the Laanx Temple quad. It's rather weird.

I've ran the updater before, but that doesn't seem to work. I remember that a while ago (months ago) it worked fine.

I don't know anything about graphics cards...I know some one to ask about that though. Thanks again for the help!

Maybe you can find out if you need to update drivers on your own :} Right-click anywhere on your desktop and click Properties, then go to the very last "Setitings" tab and tell us what it says under Display.

Then right-click on My Computer and select Properties too, click the Hardware tab, and then click on the Device Manager button. In the new window that comes up, expand the "Display adapters" list and tell us what it says there. I can then quickly check if yours is the latest driver for your card, and we can try further steps.

I have terrible lag, and my system is better than some I've seen saying they have no problems.  It could be any of a thousand things, really.

Exactly the same for me Karyuu : it was perfect before the update, and ojaroad is the only zone laggy for me..

At the time, when current PS release was prepared, significant changes in terrain generator were in progress (for example new collision detection system was introduced). Those unfinished changes can be the cause of a lag. Because of he problem with CVS I still use older version of CS and ojaroad works like previously (of course I use older version of ojaroad map too).

Ah glad to see (well not really glad...you know what I mean) someone posted that same problem.  I get that exact same kind of graphics bug on a comp I use (*cough*work*cough*).  Oja road has always been a little wonky on this comp (dark, not correct graphics rendering, etc.) but the problem displayed in that screenie has been only since the latest version.  On my home pc, everything is good.  My graphics card on the 'bad' pc is Intel 82845G. (and it has the latest drivers)

I can just see the justification on that requisition for a new graphics card...: Reason: 'Oja Road is messed up!'

Just wanted to mention that I am still having this problem.  My graphics card is Intel 82845G and my drivers are all up to date.

You need a better graphics card rather than an onboard one.
