Try asking an experienced player if you can follow them to the exit? I'm certain most people would gladly show you the way out.

Hiya binchi,

We actually have a stickied Gameplay FAQ that mentions this question, and many more. Give it a read sometime, maybe other answers will be useful in the future as well :}

Judge: Are you trying to show contempt for this court, Mr Smith?

Ooo yes that was so fun the first time I died... wandering aimlessly around the Death Realm... try to talk to NPCs that wouldn't talk and falling off the pathways everywhere until I turned my brightness on my screen through the roof.

I saw one person after about 5 minutes... they offered to show me the way out but only if I paid them. I had absolutely nothing for Trias. Finally, after pretending to wander off I followed them and got out. Not everyone on Planeshift is helpful, nor should they be, but this is kind of weird where everything is a big secret. Kind of pointless and very un-helpful. Go to the forums to find non answers.... great.

It's unfortunate that you didn't find help with ease, but basing all of PlaneShift's community on the few encounters you did (or didn't) have isn't very fair.. :} There are so many helpful people around - maybe it was just bad timing? Scheduling? I hope you'll have a better experience next time.

Not everything is a big secret. In fact, we have very few of these - mainly quests, and exits. Giving clear answers on the forums allows people to give up too easily and stop exploring on their own. Following people in the DR works, if they refuse to help you outright.

If there is anything else you need help with, the forums are the place to go. There is a ton of useful information here - about game mechanics, the PlaneShift world, technical problems, development. And we are very willing to give you all the info you'll need, as long as it doesn't involve the above-mentioned spoilers.

Exiting the DR actually isn't that hard, it's mostly people being to hasty and missing things, sometimes because of the darkness. The DR path is quite linear. And if someone asks money for showing you the way out, I would petition him, especially if that person makes a habit of it. Of course there's no problem with it if it's properly roleplayed, that person being a guide of some sorts, but I don't think the person you encountered had RP purposes.

Quite linear? There is one  place that you have to jump off the path. And another where you have to do a blind jump, one that anywhere else is death again. I realize that the developers want to make death a miserable experience, but why can't they just have you run forward on a path for 40 minutes? Or have you type in the dictionary from a to c.  :thumbdown:
The best bet is to just hope that you can follow a person leaving then when they disappear, wait around and then watch the next guy and repeat.
