Cherppow's backpack
« on: May 19, 2006, 03:08:20 am »

A man walks up the road carrying a large sack. Judging from his looks, he comes from quite distant lands.
The man sits on a nearby rock and opens the sack a bit...

This time a strange creature jumps out.

Baanc - a harmless forest herbivore.
The creature is about the size of a cat, and roughly as intelligent. It's very shy by nature though, thus they seldom dare to approach larger beings such as humans. Their habitat consists of light forests and surrounding grasslands, where they search juicy leaves and grass for nutrition. They usually live in small packs, but sometimes do short scouting trips on their own. Like most herbivores, the baanc move at daylight and retire to the safety of their underground caverns at night. The individuals communicate with soft "dub"-sounds.

Love the creature, looks really inspired. Anything in particular influence the creature?

Hehe, I see you can't stop grabbing that color pencil ;) And that's good, cause I like your Zoological experiments :) Much appreciated!

Hehe, and I simply love that character above. Is that Cherppow "naked"? :detective:

That Baanc is cute! I wonder if they can be domesticated...

That Baanc is very neat looking. One question ... erm ... can it sit? Heh... looks like it would have a rough time doing so.  :P
I love your work Cherppow, brillant as always.

Very nice! The only thing that I find wrong in it is the neck, it looks a bit thin and somehow rotated.

Hi

Thanks for the replies everyone, especially Lordbug for his 3d model. :)

To Kixie: Well, the closest thing that comes to mind is one creature from Star Wars. But baanc wasn't designed after anything, just took a pen in hand and began drawing. :)

To Baldur: Aye, our sackman is supposed to be Cherppow without his armour.

To ThomPhoenix: Maybe, but they're very shy, so domestication wouldn't be easy. In addition it's pretty small animal, so it's uses would be quite limited.

To rast: Heh, thanks. The char picture was a real quick draw.

To zorbels: Thanks for the welcome. I'd say Baanc sits like a chicken, kind of kneels and sits on it's legs. This way it can also get up more rapidly if needed.

To Arangol: Thanks. Most ideas just pop in my head at a random moment.

To Hellios: Ah, I doubt... but you never know.

To Lordbug: Long time no see Lordbug! Nice work! Seeing 3d models always inspires me. :) Hmm, what mug icon you mean?

And again a man appears from the horizon. He sits on a nearby rock, and opens his sack.

This time he takes out a piece of paper:

He studies the paper for a while squinting his eyes. Then he reaches into the sack again. To bystanders' amusement, he pulls out a house that resembles the sketch in the paper earlier.

"Ah well... it'll need some work still, but it's better than sleeping under the sky." - The man ponders, and enters what seems to be his new home.
