Hi,

was about to touch up the baanc, but got diverted into bump mapping.

Two grass cubes with same diffuse texture, while the rightmost utilizes also a basic normal map.

Unfortunately the blender2crystal exporter version that I use exports bumpmaps in a strange way, so had to tweak the results by hand a bit. For those interested in details, a simple cube as CS world.

Edit: Foliage test under way...

Where did all these kittens come from!? o.o Meow.
With the latest blender2crystal exporting foliage is fairly easy. Using the gui, can set any object to act as foliage for another. Few notes I made along the way though:
- in most cases it's best to turn lighting off for the foliage object.
- centering the target object pivot to 0,0,0 helped with foliage position problems.

The stonebreakers brought the rare ore by the dozen.

 :o

Kittens?  They look more like mice.

Either way, looking good.

Howdy,

apart from all this...

Hail from the Burly Men of Hydlaa!

The Burly Men explain:

It was during the third day of the battle of Cordeil when Cherppow picked up a tower shield and rammed through the enemy lines...

... to pacify the hostile general. The enemy fell into confusion and surrendered fifteen minutes later. How Cherppow managed to penetrate the general's magically enchanced chain mail remains a mystery.

During the enkidukai clan wars Cherppow protected village of Parelm from Blood Maw pillagers. The attackers retreated after Cherppow outran their fifth forward scout and sent him flying in the air.

Few hours before the siege of Barnet, Cherppow was seen outside the town gates, smashing the ground with his fists. It was only after Cherppow began peppering the approaching enemy with loose gravel when the men realized what he had been doing. After the siege had been lifted, men counted the casualties: over one third of enemy soldiers were missing an eye.

Some of the Burly Men's tales have been known to be a bit exaggerated. :P

To dying_inside:
Exactly what the commanders were thinking when they hired a Xacha seer to check on Cherppow's inner health. Ten hours after entering Cherppow's chambers, the seer came out holding her head.

"The man is dumber than a newborn Groffel!" were her exact words.

After all this carnage had Cherppow not slightly deteriorated in his mental state? ...... :whistling:

"It was Cherppow's valour in battlefield that laid the foundation for us, the seekers of strength, some four hundred years ago. We train tirelessly to achieve perfect physical condition and flawless concentration. To us strength is enlightenment; through it we become free." - The Burly Men of Hydlaa

:o Cherppow is bigger than a kran. Oh my.

Nice work Cherppow. I really like the black and red sketch. Very eye catching. ::| The picture with the woman looks freakishly like my mother on a bad hair day.
I've been outside, it's overrated and the graphics suck!

"However, after time Cherppows superiors grew afraid of his increasing power. They believed he would one day turn against them and be more dangerous than the armies they now faced. Thus a meeting of high judges and octarchs took place. It was decided; Cherppow was to be banished from this realm forever. To their surprise, Cherppow did not resist his apprehension. He was taken to the stone labyrinths, where magical portal, a gateway to other realms, was known to exist. Cherppow looked back and said - be strong, for I will not return - and stepped into the floating sphere. The cavern was collapsed to prevent any further travel. The wars raged on, but no sightings of Cherppow was reported since. And likely won't be in the future either, for all this happened centuries ago. It is certain that Cherppow is dead. Only us, the Burly Men, remain." - The overly muscular storyteller finishes.

Meanwhile a young ylian with the name of Cherppow Greywood goes around his daily business at the Hydlaa plaza...

 - edit -

To Zorbels: Thanks for the comments. Aye, Cherppow (the armoured character) is quite a hulk. Scholars are still debating if he was a human to begin with. Cherppow Greywood on the other hand is an ordinary young adult, unaware of what someone carrying the same name has done in the past. Greywood's a well built lad too, but far from being the strongest of his neighbourhood. Plus, he's afraid of girls. ;)

A conversation took place in the #planeshift channel:

[21:12] <FaKeShAdOw> I'll fight you, Peacer. ;)
[21:12] <FaKeShAdOw> With sticks D:
[21:13] <Peacer> \o/
[21:13] <Peacer> her cherppow want to make a stickmod for me and fakey :O?=
[21:13] <Peacer> :P
[21:13] <Peacer> hey*
[21:14] <Peacer> not her
[21:14] <Peacer> >.<
[21:20] <Cherppow> Hmm, a stickmod you say?

I don't usually do requests, for soon everyone'd want one... but they asked so nicely. :P

A stick mod. Changes broadsword01a into a feeble stick. Only affects graphics on your client.

To apply:
- take backup copy of your existing broadsword01a.spr and broadsword01a_icon.dds (in planeshift/art/things/weapons.zip)
- download zip http://users.tkk.fi/~vrantapu/PlaneShift/stick_mod.zip
- unpack the zip and copy the 3 files into your planeshift/art/things/weapons.zip
- run PS normally and find yourself a broadsword

- edit2 -

I was requested to put the object lab smithy available for download. You can download the zip below, and run it in CS walktest.

http://www.yousendit.com/transfer.php?action=download&ufid=757F444127B5D30A (only available for 7 days!)
As always, there's much going on in there. I didn't clean it up, so be prepared for somewhat messy encounter. Hopefully some of you find it useful though.

Here's a latest screenshot:

Cough, cough, who closed the chimney? (Testing fog)

Who did it?! Devs - the usual suspects.

I'm not sure if there are undead creatures in PS universe, but Grendols do seem pretty mutilated. So...

By Talad! It's uncle Lester!

Lady and her Groffel.

Yet another sketch of Cherppow. Due to his height, most people see Cherppow from slightly lowered perspective.

Hmm, edits don't seem to bump anymore. Ah well, no matter.

Warning: slightly revealing image.

After dark, all kinds of shady figures fill the streets of Hydlaa.

Tears sprinkled from Durgars eyes when he saw the shimmering of the crystal.
