Updater Problems
« on: May 30, 2006, 03:21:39 am »
After successfully building PlaneShift from sources, I was told to use the updater to get the art. But I got this error: "New updater can't be fetched since your os isn't yet supported for automatic updating. You should be able to fetch and install it manually either from the mainsite or from the forums." I also tried to launch the PlaneShift client, but got an error about an image not being found, and then the client crashed. I assume this is from my lack of art. Can anybody help me get PlaneShift working?

Thanks,
dgm

Ok, you're on Linux or Mac OSX.  Only Windows has a self-updating updater, at this point.  However, if you've built from (recent) source, you shouldn't need to update the updater.  Not sure what stupid thing it's thinking now, but just check the "ignore check" checkbox in the options window and run again.  Remember to select only art and data, and you will probably want to CVS update the data/gui dir afterwards.
