How to impeach a guildmaster???
« on: May 30, 2006, 04:19:45 pm »
I was just wondering, is there any way to oust a guildmaster who isn't doing their job?  There is a guild master who has not even been in the world for 2 months.  There is one who is "holding down the fort" as it were, but they have tired of waiting for the guild master's return.  The guild is falling apart without leadership.  Can we just get rid of the current master???

Hi,

Sadly the easiest way to do this would be for all people to leave the guild so there are under 5 members so you can disband the guild they work hard to remake the guild at sometime.

A lot of the time, this isn't possible because the guild master will have himself and four alts in the guild.  You'll have to get a new name - like "Ruby Reign" instead of Janner's Way.

The only thing you can do is leave the guild and take your friends with you if you don't like how the guild master is doing things. The way I look at it is, that person took the time to put together the guild and has the right to do whatever they wish (with in reason of course) with the guild. If they go inactive because of real life duties or just boredom from the game, then the polite thing to do would be hand over leadership to someone else, or have one of your stronger members in the guild keep things going until the guild master can return. It is not fair however to sabotage the guild that you didn't make just because you don't like how it is running. If this is the case I think leaving and making your own guild would be the right solution.

You didn't leave the game because of me.  You were bothering me, then you left because of multiple factors, and then you came back and blamed me for everything because you didn't want anyone to think less of you.  I brought up Ruby Reign as an example of a successful guild of members who carried on even after their guild leader left the game without putting someone else in charge.

Hmm.  Sounds personal, like the kind of thing that would be best sent as a PM?

Getting driven away by Zanzy, a new level of player looking for an excuse to leave without putting a dent in their own repumatation...*cough*

Anyway, the impeachment of a guildmaster (correct that) should definantly be implemented because it's so damn realistic. Imagine with me,

You spend two years growing this guild, and it's huge, successful, an undesputed power in Yliakum...One day you come around and click on the guild tab to change the MOTD, and WHAM! "You are not currently in a guild. 20,000 tria etc." That would own, crushing a mans work and turning against a leader. It rocks, it rocks! Quick, give us an "Impeachment Vote" option!

EDIT: Fixed gramatical errors making me look like a bit less of an idiot. That sentance was wrong :/

An "Impeachment Vote" option would be interesting, and entirely role-playable.  I can think of many organizations which were "taken over" in such a way.  It's backhanded, but realistic.

And I don't think it's fair to say that Janner isn't "dedicated" to the game.  He's clocked more in-game time than any of us.  The reasons behind his temporary absense were complex.

@shava: update yourself at www.guildlisting.com to see about the current guilds ;).

hmm think a vote would be a good option, but not sure how you would be able to do that without a chance of misuse.

For example you have a second in command and he has his followers and he wants to take over. Impossible now but if the impeachement would be in place he would only have to delete all oposing members till he has a majority in his followers and win the vote. Also what would stop a guildmaster from deleting the one oposing him if he finds out? Big chance one person atleast will drop him an email and suddenly TADA the guildmaster returns from his inactivity.
