The game does nothing after installing

Processor:  Intel P4 2.66 Ghz
System Memory:  768 MB
Graphics Card:  GeForce 4 Ti 4200  - using 84.21 drivers
Video Memory:  64 MB

I just downloaded the game, and ran the updater.  After updating, the game does absolutely nothing. The setup and the client programs don't even show an error. Looking at the task manager I see the process appearing for a sec and closing.

I checked the setup program and the md5 matched (it installed and updated correctly anyway), and reinstalled just in case. Also tried loading it before updating, and same result.

Run the game from the command prompt with the -console switch and see if there are any error messages printed out.

The console pops up and closes (in a new window) and does not seem to show any messages (it's too fast to actually be sure).

PD: I tried to get the code from cvs and check it myself but sf.net's cvs server seems to be broken.

You can download source snapshots from here. These are not the latest sources, but should work with the current Laanx server.

I built the setup and client apps using that snapshot, using vs2005 Debug config (using the *typical solutions), and it works (only replaced the exes, all the other files are the original updated ones).

This feels weird...

I downloaded 4 files from planeshift sources that Bereror suggested but i dont know what to do with them.

These source snapshots are old now. If you want to build from sources, follow the instructions in the Build Guide.

Otherwise download the latest client using BitTorrent from the main Download Page.

I have already downloaded the latest version (CBV0.3.015.exe) and have installed it today. And then i had troubles that you had. What should i do?
I am not so advanced to build from sources and i think it is for Linux users...

I hope you didn't run the updater. If you did, uninstall and install again.

I didn't run updater. After installing the client I run setup but there was nothing (except in task manager in processes there was "pssetup.exe" an use of processor was 100%). Now I downloaded updater1111.zip and maybe I should extract files to PS folder( I read it in Important Topics, 3rd DaveG's topic). What do you think about this?

None of that stuff is applicable until the update servers are updated.  Don't download the updater or run the updater or touch the updater.  The only stuff you can use that works is currently in the package.
